Martin Donnelly Snr.
Over shadowed rather by the tragic loss of Gerry Marshall, I was saddened to read of the loss of another of motorsports characters -- Martin Donnelly Snr. -- last weekend.
A great supporter of Irish drivers, he was almost a fixture in the Kentagon for as many Formula Ford Festivals as I care to remember. He always had a smile and hand shake for us marshals, but woe-betide any ladies who got within arm's reach! I am sure he will be in Heaven's bar with Gerry and Tony, condolences to Martin and his family and friends RIP |

Sad news Bryan, another wonderful character gone. Martin had been a great friend and supporter of Irish motorsport and I can guarantee that there will be a moment's silence at the drivers' briefing at Kirkistown tomorrow. We can always cheer ourselves up a bit by realising that Gerry Marshal and Tony Lanfranchi will be getting a run for their money in the celestial Kentagon now that Martin has probably met up with Harry Johnson again.
