Engine Question
This may be blatantly obvious, but I’ll ask it anyways. How can Sauber use the 2003 spec Ferrari engine under 2004’s engine rules? If I understand it correctly they currently buy the engines that Ferrari raced with the previous year. So, is the change over to engines that last the entire weekend relatively easy? Is it just a matter of detuning them a bit for longer life? Just curious, thanks for any responses.

As far as i'm aware Sauber will have 2004 engines but they'll be downtuned and will receive upgrades later.

Yes,esentially that is it.They detune the engines slightly.Unfortunately alot of ferraris complete engine data would then be irrelevant as it's based on getting the most out of the engine for several hours so i guess sauber will have to do some fine tuning testing to see how hard to run it.They did the same last year remember-as did jordan and minardi who also used engines orriginally designed for a 500km life
