Review of sports car racing of the 2010's
Thought it would be a cool thread to list your favorite cars, races, moments of the 2010's. Also not so good moments as well.

Favorite races out of the top of my head
Every Le Mans except for 2013 and 2018, and maybe 2016 simply because of the horrible SC start and Eduardo over nannying. 2010 is still the ultimate favorite though of all races this decade, you know for the bizarre Audi vs Pug meltdown drama, gigantic LMP1 privateer field, surprisingly strong LMP2 showing for the time, GT1 final hurrah weirdness and reliability war, plus one of the last great GT2 battles Sebring 2011 (look at the shock top finishers, not to mention the field altogether) Petit Le Mans 2010 & 2011 (the very prime of PLM with ILMC) Laguna Seca 6h 2011 (P1 was just so good) Long Beach GP 2010 (crazy Lola AMR vs HPD difference) Hungaroring 1000km 2010 (LMP2 overpowering LMP1, also I adore night races without over extending floodlights) Spa 1000km 2010 & 2011 (insane pre-LM shows) Silverstone 6h 2015 (I think this is the correct year, the one where Audi and Porsche swapped places all the time anyway) And maybe Road America 2012 if just for the final laps https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDvdRlSlYA0 Last edited by Deleted; 24 May 2019 at 19:17. |

Favourite races: 2011 Sebring (audi and peugeot drivers no giving f*** show) 2011 Le Mans (the fiercest LM ever seen) 2013 Spa 24H (recent seasons best Spa 24H) 2014 Le Mans (basically 2011 LM part 2) 2015 Silverstone and Spa WEC (next level of hybrid sportscars performances) 2015 petit le mans (wet race gte > dp) 2016 Spa (the hybrid fails showroom) 2016 Bahrein (audi farewell performance) 2017 Le Mans (the lmp2 rampage) |

I will always remember the twenty eleven Le Mans. Audi lost two cars in big accidents, in which both drivers get out not too badly injured. So it was left to the remaining Audi to fend off the 3 Peugeots and did it, with all the pressure of the lead Peugeot snapping at it’s heels.
I really did appreciate it at the time, which is just as well, as this close competition between manufacturers really added to it. Let’s hope we see it return with new rules in two years time |

Some of my favorites are on this page. I thought the Audi vs. Peugeot cars of 2011 were tops for me...

M favorite WEC season of the decade was 2017 for sure.
1. Mono-A-Mono duel between Porsche and Toyota in LMP1 all year. Loved Porsche's factory livery on the P1 too. 2. Same battle between Rebellion vs Chan/Jota in LMP2 3. Le Mans was very unpredictable in 2017 and it was great to see fragility in the LMP1 cars again. 4. GTE Pro was awesome. Le Mans GT finish was awesome other than the fact that the one car I was cheering to lose ended up winning (Aston). Loved watching the Porsche vs Ford battles especially throughout the year. 5. Full race replays started showing up on youtube a month after the race in 2017. 6. The Audi R18 in 2016 was so hideously ugly that I did not mind them going away. |

For your favorite cars list. Concur with the 2011 Audi R18 and Corvette DP..although I think the C7 version was cooler. That started in 2015. Only disagree with Toyota, Never found those cars inspiring. Just not a Toyota guy I guess. For your favorite races list. Concur with 2011 Le Mans, 2015 Petit Le Mans, and 2017 Le Mans. |

I think one of the great things about this decade in sportscar racing is in media coverage. Streaming races on youtube both live and replays has revolutionzied the sport for sure. I had never heard of the Nurburgring 24, Bathurst 12, International GT Open, and ADAC Gt Masters at the start of the decade. Now I watch all of this on youtube. I had heard of FIA GT (now Blancpain) but never had seen it. I think SRO was the first to get on the youtube bandwagon and thankfully the rest hopped on board. I think we have it real good as far as access without paywalls are concerned compared to other sports. Still if IMSA starts a pay service one day with extra features such as race replays with no commentary, then I would be cool with that.
Also this has been a great decade where we now get podcasts and the emergence of sportcar365 of course. We get 3 good podcasts a week now with S365, Graham/Marshall, and Midweek. I do miss Sportscar Unleashed though, I think that show died in early 2018. |

TS040, ARX-03a, HSV-010...3.4L V8s are neat apparently. I hate what the Z4 GT3 stood for but can never stop being amused by turning a hair dresser car into that demon of a race car then having its most famous example be an itasha.
Sugo 300km in 2013 was great. 2016 will probably be the most remembered Le Mans of the decade. |

Another memory of the decade that came to my head.
Remember when we called the IMSA weather tech series..."TUSK!" |
