Carlos should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Rallyx short throw

Can you use a short strow gear linkage on a Stock hatch rallyx car. I have looked at the regs and it says

"The engine and gearbox MUST be as originally fitted as original equipment to the car; they MUST retain their original configuration and location"

so I pressume the referance to configeration means no, but thought I would check as Birthday coming soon so will have a little play money coming.

The power boost valves are also against regs I think but could anyone confirm this.

Cheers for help
Carl

I am not one hundred percent about rallycross, but other regs I have read about geraboxes state that the gearbox casing must be as original but you can replace the internals with an uprated gear kit such as Quaife.
But the kit must be the same as the original in configuration i.e. if it has a 'H' pattern box you can not fit a sequencial instead. The gearbox must also be located and mounted as the original, i.e. if it is mounted on the right hand side of the engine you cannot mount any where else to alter weight distribution.
As far as linkage is concerned as long as it is the same type as the original just strengthened and not mounted in a different way it should be OK.

Your best bet is get in touch with a scrutineer and ask him for advice.

Carlos -

There's an important sentence in the Stock Hatch regs that basically says, "if the regs don't say you can - you can't!!"

So it's a definate "NO" on both points.

Cheers,

Roy

P.S. See you at Blyton next month?

Good answer RoyG. It would save me a lot of stress in more people remembered that basic axim that's in nearly all regs I've ever seen.

Sorry if it was a stupid question, this is my first season so not that used to working to motorsport regs yet. My interest was sparked in this by car for sale on the brda site. it says it is newly built 205 1.6 and lists a "quick shift gear kit". There is also a 205 for sale which raced in 2003 with a "Modified exhaust downpipe" which I pressumed was against regs, so wasnt sure about things. Thanks for replys as I am in learning curve and dont want scrute problems aswell.

I'm in the same boat Carlos, but building a car myself from scratch. Didn't realise there was so much involved lol!
