What is the best National/club series in the UK?
To follow on from the smiting of the series cull, what are the best championship going and why?
Heres mine Vee - massive grids, cheap, entertaining, very close racing Stock Hatch - see above SEAT Cupras - a real tonic for the sport, racing rivals is fantastic TV and the racing is very good too. I hope it continues. |

Mr biased speaking here.
North West FF1600 is the one. Just read the positive comments on TT and you'll see why. I suppose Combe FF1600 comes a close second, followed by any other FF1600. Next up any single seater race car series. As to things with doors, I ask what is that all about? You can get the same entertainment at the fun fair for a couple of quid in those things with big stalky things sticking up out of the back [and sparks if you are lucky] "Only toilets have doors" Last edited by diz; 15 Nov 2003 at 15:14. |

Seat's maybe good tv but it certainly is not good racing it is more like banger racing and they are sending the wrong message out to the public of what is acceptable racing.

My favourite is the Europa Sport/Saloon championship. Then there's Caterhams, Mighy Minis, Legends. The one 'Top Hat' meeting I did this year was one of the most enjoyable.
SEATs? A sick joke. |

Having now seen the Racing Rivals show and witnessed the Seat Cupras at Rockingham, the standard of driving exhibited was frankly a disgrace.
Give 'em girder roll cages, put them in Wimbledon stadium and have done with it. As for the best series? There can be only one. BRDC Fifties Sports Cars. Closely followed by the Top Hat saloons. |

Agree with Diz, you still can't beat FF1600. Anything with 'Caterham' or 'Mini' in the title can usually be relied on for entertainment, while MG BCV8s have been good this year too...

ff1600 gets my vote too followed by Legends. I agree with diz: anything with doors fitted is only good for doing the shopping in!!!!!!!!!!

The best single seater racing is FF1600. The best sports car series is Sports 2000 (as it is run for drivers and not by TM)

Having done Both saloons and Single seaters you have more fun racing in the Single seaters because if there is a crash it usually is an accident as both parties normaly are out of action were in saloons people just take you off for fun because it seems to be the done thing in BTCC .
Fave for me is Historic FF600 followed by NW FF1600 Last edited by jminsh; 17 Nov 2003 at 00:25. |

What is it with people and single seaters on here? I must be missing something but single seaters just aren't interesting - give me something with a roof and preferably a big fat turbo. I watched the formula Renaults at Donington (I was there for the DTM - proper cars) and it didn't do anything for me (although it was better than the Ferraris).
Best series - Rallycross - quickfire races (50+ in a day at Lydden), plenty of action and a wide range of cars from the humble minis to the fire breathing RS200. Last edited by BertMk2; 17 Nov 2003 at 12:09. |

You've all ignored the best CLUB racing - Formula Honda - without a doubt. Just try a 1000cc beast, though not Honda of course.
This is from the racer's view, not the spectator. |

Any FF1600 racing is best. No wings to get in the way and the best racing through the field by far with the possible exception o fthe ugly FVees.

Yeh FF1600 is great racing but my personal favourite now has to be Sports 2000 - not only are the grids usually very good but the racing is close and the cars are beautiful!!

Single Seaters - BOSS - Trouble is, it's too costly. Need F5000 back!!!
Saloons - probably Formula Saloons for sheer speed (ex-Thundersaloons in Class A, and SuperTourers in Class B). For cheap close racing - Stock/Hot Hatches. You can never discount things like the Alfa Romeo championship, good size grids, and some good racing. The Cupra series was a bit too rough and tumble, as well as the Clios where both series' would benefit from pusher bars on the front, to add to the effect. Up and coming spectacle - gotta be ASCAR. Rob. |

Dare I say (from a very biased point of view!) Radical Endurance Series? The cars are quicker than 'Proper GT Cars' on most circuits, they look good and sound good, very friendly atmosphere and good drivers. At the final round of the championship there were 32 cars on the grid. From my last experience of posting on this forum I provoked a lot of reaction when mentioning radicals, so I know all your arguments and criticisms against them, don't bother posting them again!
