2 new manufacturers

David Richards said that in 2006 2 new manufacturers will enter WRC. Any idea who might that be? My guess one Japanese + 1 german

Suzuki has been wanted to enter the WRC for a long time.

I'm guessing Suzuki and MG.

Fiat's losing money hand over fist, though. Suzuki's got significant experience in rallying, and has been making some impressive products of late.

I still want to see Chevrolet in WRC, but I know that's about as likely as John Ashcroft becoming a Buddhist.

Ford is in
GM is already in so no Chevy
However, BMW fits the profile and is willing to be number 1 in every competition(tired with 2, huh - etcc, f1)
I am hoping for Honda, not Suzuki. Suzuki isn't big enough for my taste.

And I base my affirmations on absolutely nothing

I don't know about BMW- I think I've read somewhere that they don't really see it as fitting in with their image- certainly Prodrive's efforts with the M3 in the late 80's were kept at a distance from the factory (even though I think they got technical support at least from Germany...)

How about BMW building a WRC based on the new Mini though?- it doesn't take the BMW name into rallying as such, and the Mini name has a huge rallying history & heritage they can trade on....

the mini is too short for a WRC car. VW must do something with the Mk5 Golf.

Subaru is not considered any more a part of the GM family than Suzuki.

Vauxhall/Opel? They have a new Tigra coming out.

I can't think of any companies who have major new cars coming (apart from MG - 2006 is a long way away for them though) or who have a car that needs bolstering...do you think Audi would consider rallying now they've given up Le Mans?

Who's doing the BMW Dakar effort? They obvious have some rally interest to enter rally raids - next step WRC?

I see on a few sites David Richards is quoted as saying that one is definitely coming in in 2006, and may announce their plans THIS week, while the other he's not sure when they'll arrive.

Would be nice to see Toyota back, as it would Audi - but can't see that happening anytime soon. Honda and VW would be my bet

i something recently about suzuki entering wrc - cant remember when or on what though. VW would be good but im sure they are happy using the skoda name until they start to win. i wonder if toyota have any plans of returning in the near future. have honda ever been in wrc?, another option could be renault or nissan (renault owns nissan??)
just a thought - reliant could enter a robin wrc.

Well, Suzuki have a factory JWRC team at the moment, so it would make sense for them to be one of the two, wouldn't it?

What about Renault? (No reason for asking, it was just a thought.)
