I don't think i've watched an episode of V8X on 7 for some time now... I end up just downloading the show and watching it then.... Don't have to deal with commercial breaks every 5 mins of which 3 are spent on in house jokes between the panel...
but thats just my view. |

Am I a bit odd thinking V8X was a bit dumb making such a thing about how much they spend pn anchient technology?
Larko did a wonderfull job of trying to sound enthusiastic about the Dinosauirs they use for a lump, the fact that most of th technology was imported from America and that there was a huge waste of cash and resources in doing so. Surely there is a better image to be promoted in saving money, encouraging Aussie knowhow or at least promoting engine technology less than 20 years out of date. The maybe V8SC is proud of being DUMB! |

I would have liked it had Mr Larkham put all the bits together properly, that they fired up the powerplant, to show that as a talk show host, he makes a good engine builder |

The trouble is, 95% of the viewers wouldn't recognise the old 'technology' versus new technology, even if it was pointed out to them.
Teams would spend the whole lot of money, and for what outcome? And what 'technology' on a current V8 is so brainstorming startling? Any engine they use is going to rely on imported parts to some degree (and our balance of trade figures don't look these days). Although Mark Larkham pointed out a surprising amount of 'built in-house' hardware that goes onto the current V8. If Supercar wants to look like they are doing something for the planet, and appeasing the greenies (which eventually they will need to do), they would run something like the fabulous new turbo EcoBoost four-cylinder engine destined as an option on the next model Falcon. But I don't think 'I4 Supercar' has quite the same ring to it as 'V8 Supercar'. Besides that, Holden has nothing to match it. However, 'ECO Supercar Championship' would sound a whole lot more greenie friendly, if not a contradiction in terms! Quote:

Not that I'm a greenie, but if V8 Supercars ever wanted to be "green", i'd hate to think the carbon tax on those sumps and other bits. Imagine the energy that goes into creating that huge billet of aluminium, only for 90% of it to be machined away. Only the tip of the iceberg I imagine.
Anyway, I was confused while watching that V8 Xtra show on Saturday. What has dreamworld got to do with racing V8 Supercars? What has a movie review got to do with racing V8 Supercars? And do they think I'm really stupid enough to believe that they were crossing "live" to Larkham just after he had hitched a "helicopter ride" down to the Gold Coast street circuit? One more time makes me ashamed to have any interest in V8 Supercars. I want to like it, but they are doing everything possible to make it irrelevant and boring. |

Just back to the earlier posts...,
It seems like the V8s are getting off second best when it comes to the election and other politic stuff that is going on. If something goes over time we have to wait. Now if that was on ONEHD That would be a different story haha |

Without being too unkind, they could do as Top Gear do, and put some more attractive looking people in the front lines of the crowd
PS - I will happily admit that I wouldn't qualify for a front row spot either. |

Why the hell was some washed up Aussie pub rocker from the 80s doing an unplugged number at the end of the show ?
First last week we interviewed the stars of the latest generic American buddy cop film and now this ? |

Show Here
I am not sure why Mr Larkham didnt get a look see around the oily bits, or more accurately, the WP shed where the oily bits are made... as opposed to the HRT assembly shed... |
