HPmadness should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
HPmadness tracks

This is my track sharing thread. I will post street circuits and permanent tracks. This is my first track: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com?r=6542322



The location is in Chicago and goes around Lincoln park.
It is 2.8 Kilometers or 1.7 Miles. attachment.php.

Welcome along to My tracks.

Thats a nice first effort but the top section along North Lakeshore Drive, Left onto West Oakdale Avenue and then left again down North Commonwealth Avenue to the Lincoln Park area causes a major Issue.

That Block that you run around contains a Hospital with an Emergency Room.

Even in the fantasy land of My Tracks, that takes that section of roadway out of bounds

There is a route that will avoid the hospital but it is also very short.

This is my second track. It is based in Lyon, France. It is 3.9 kilometers or 1.4 miles long and it has 14 turns.

This is my first track made using sketchup. About 1.5 km I would think. It took me around 4 hours to make, but I am going to work harder on my tracks to make them better. So hope you enjoy!

well done, many people when they first start really only stick with 2D to begin with, but clearly you've tried for a few walls, the garages and some grandstands.

The more comfortable you get with Sketchup the more you'll realise that little details can make a huge difference, but at the same time it's import not to get caught up in details that only you will see.

A good first effort with sketchup. You have added a lot of basic details that help to make a track more real looking. It takes a bit of practice to workout how to get the best out of sketchup so keep it up. There are lots of options with the various buttons and it takes time to get the best out of them but it is only out of trying them as quite often there are different ways to get the same results.

Blaming it on my experience on the driving side of things, but 4 hours just seems too long for such simple work. That's why I don't use it, even though I have it (and an upcoming CAD course where I'll have to use it for God only knows), but my only issues with the circuit itself are the (lack of) run-off in the chicane and the short length.

And kudos for not murdering Sketchup.

As others have said, a good first effort!

I'm going to stick my neck out and say that judging from the track width that this circuit is not 1.5km, maybe closer to 3km? You can use sketchup to accurately measure track length but the main thing is to get the basics down first.

I don't think it is to scale but when I used the measuring tape thing I saw that is said 469167.50m, soo... yea.

NEW TRACK! This track is about a 2.7 km long track with an almost 1 km stretch. It has 5 different configurations: GP Short A Short B Moto And Club Circuit

I will post a list of all of the configurations. The ones I put together suck!

Not bad, but again length. Also, it looks a little too 'disconnected angular corner after disconnected angular corner', but Sochi worked, so, I don't know anymore.

I fell the yellow (club?) config has the best flow, although I agree with AoB that it could be improved with a slightly wider variety of corner types. Also, that first sequence of corners looks pretty scary....

Elements of Miller Motorsport Park with the left and right hand courses off the main straight.
Take a look at this design from the reverse direction. Top left being an open 120-130 degree corner. In that reverse, only T3 needs opening out a little, the rest flows better.

sometimes when you design a circuit, you have a clockwise (or anticlockwise) running idea ... this can be a set of blinkers

So once it's done , it's sometimes worth while taking a moment and looking at it, in the opposite direction, I've sometimes discovered that in fact the circuit works better that reverse direction, with just a minor adjustment.

That's why I've used the main/optional direction. Interestingly, Can-Am once ran Fuji counter-clockwise to avoid the then-dangerous T1 entry.

I suspect maybe you're seeing the surface area, if you have width and it's constant, then you divide the width between the area and you get the length
