Something wonderful happens when an awesome sportscar becomes a GT racer. Wings, splitters, diffusers and all the other racing bits make it look much more serious. Glad to see those silly scissor doors are gone too.

I noticed they've abandoned the pop-up doors for a normal outward opening kind.

any thoughtful speculation on debut timeframe/series? Is it built to ACO standard for GT1 or FIA racing? Does look good but kinda pointless just running back and forth on the runways.

Oww Tamiya give us a 1/24 body of this beauty. Actually a full car with engine detail . Oww wrong thread

Pity about the doors. Would love to see the roadcar doors at a track. (if it is fast) Not only fast, but also a beauty

I think that the road car door mechanism might weighs to much

Could the road car hinges perhaps have been considered safety risks in case of a crash?

As regards the hinges, possibly as they are in a
area not as well protected as where convensional
hinges are (an they would probably stick out a bit in/after
a crash and you don't want stuff like that sticking out..)
.. but then again I could be wrong..

I imagine they might have been heavy mechanism as well, and also likely to break in a race car. I seem to notice the Lambo guys always seem to have trouble getting the door down and locked.

dj4monie is heading for a stewards' enquiry!
Glad to see it....

Now let's hope they have some serious money for development

What GT1 needs is more available iron and this is a step in the right direction.

If its proven to be fairly quick right out of the box, then more people will knock on the door..

Not necessarily. I trust Koenigsegg to build a quick car. I just don't trust them yet to build a reliable car though. Their road cars go like stink, but are troubled by issues as far as I know, and what sets race cars apart from typical "tuner" cars isn't really their power or performance nowadays, but their reliability. I guess most people in the racing business are rather apprehensive and will wait for the first season's results.

But it's definitely an interesting entry and I'm going to be rooting for them when they come.

Guys, I am well aware of the safety. But it would have looked awesome on the grid, besides a Murc, but with cooler doors opened

How would you open regular doors if you parked it up against the armco?

You mean you don't take a Sawzall with you in the car? Every GT racer in the know brings one with them. They're now getting painted like helmets.

On the Lambo, a fair amount of the door motion is still outward rather than upward. With the Keonigsegg, you have to push the door outward, then rotate it forward purely in the vertical plane (so it isn't a normal "scissor" door by any means).
