Retro games that should be re-released
Boy was I surprised to see this game in town the other day: Sonic Mega Collection. Basically, it is a collection of pretty much all the Sonic The Hedgehog games that were ever released on most of the Sega platforms.
I immediately withdrew the final 20 quid in my bank account (the £20 that was reserved for my workers union payments ) and bought this. The memories came flooding back, i went on a glorious nostalgia trip and I clambered into the loft to get some of my old issues of "Sonic The Comic". I think these re-releases are a fabulous idea! Why don't games companies do more of these? I can think of hundreds of retro games to re-release. I'd particularly like to see a release of the Amiga motorcycling game "No Second Prize" or even "The adventures of Dizzy the egg": they could even make the game jam up if you go too high in the sky like it used to on the Amiga! hehehe.......bring back old games! |

Remember Power Drift? I'd like to play that again.
Streets of Rage, Golden Axe (do they still make games like that?). |

There was a game about 6 or 7 years ago on the PC called "Ignition". It was a sort of top down racer done in a very effective cartoon style. It was very playable with a well worked out physics engine that gave a good impression of speed. That would be well worth releasing on a budget label for £5.

I was a great fan of Sonic, I must admit. Had a Mega-Drive and then a Saturn.

I actually had a go with Power Drift a while back, but didn't enjoy it so much. Nostalgia isn't what it used to be I had a bit of a nostalgia trip a while ago, started playing games like Wizball and Super Stardust again They don't games like they used to.. |

super monaco grand prix, the original, where you could pick a driver to be a rival and if you beat him twice in races you would replace him at his team.
also there was a fantastic f1 game for the mega drive, even though it was released in the mid 90's the circuits were still in their 80's configuration, hockenheim didn't even have a chicane at the ostkurve, plus there was no magny cours it was the full paul ricard instead. |

mmm...SuperMonaco GP has a better career mode than most of the moden ones.
They should redom Elite-2. I mean, ffs. It's not hard to see that it'd be a lisecence to print money. Oh, and re-do one of thoose old F1 games with a track editor. track editors are cool, that's why I bought trackmania |

I'm a general retro-games nerd - I even contribute to the www.mobygames.com site's archive of information about old games. Seeing names like No Second Prize and Super Stardust certainly brings a smile to my face. Personally I'd love to see someone remake Crazy Cars 3 with newer technology - the structure fo that one was superb, with a real strategic element in choosing which races to do as well as the betting section, which is probably the best I've ever seen in a racer.

I downloaded that Street Rod3 a while back, but sadly it's not been developed any further for a couple of years. I doubt whether much will come of it, sadly. I loved the original Street Rod
On a similar note - there was a 'new' Stunt Car Racer floating around the net a while back - was very similar to the original, but also allowed multi player. Sadly that was in the early stages of developement too, and looks to be dead. I wish Crammond would re-vamp that game for modern computers. |

Got myself two volumes of the Midway Arcade series on X-Box today.
Games range from good to awful. Still, it has the immortal Paperboy! |

There is no decent Le Mans sim. In the sense of a sim that you can install and run straight away. The old Infogrammes games was desperately bad and no-one has comew up with anything else yet. Yes, I know you can run at Le Mans in the F1C mods, in SCGT even in the Nascar Heat mods, but no-one seems able or willing to produce a decent Le Mans sim. By the way, I remember the AS Super Monaco GP sim for the Megadrive. I drove it for hours upon hours..... Could never get around Monaco (some things never change) but I always enjoyed Ayrton coming to shake my hand at the end when I beat him to the championship...... |

I think the PC version has the full version. It's just a very poor representation.
