Supercars 2022 Calendar
Don't think we've had a 2022 calendar thread yet so here goes......
The 2022 Supercars calendar is out - hopefully able to run as planned with no virus interference. Quite a change around from some previous years, only 1 TBC with QR the fave for that one, provided Mr Quinn is happy that he's got the place to the level he'd like it to be at in time. If Quinny isn't ready, might be a chance for the Bend with no 2022 Supercar racing scheduled in SA at all currently. |

V8SC dont like Shahin very much.
No Clipsal and no Bend... very poor after decades of strong SA support |

Weren’t there Shahin’s mainly interested in a two-driver enduro?

The inevitable cancellation of the Perth round will free up another spot.

Not sure what's happening with The Bend and Supercars - at one stage there was a lot of keenness and then it suddenly cooled. I've head rumours that at least some of that is due to financial arrangements but those rumours may well be wide of the mark. |

The TBC is the Bend. Current sticking point is that Supercars want to run a sprint, The Bend want an Enduro.
Currently the only enduro seems to be Bathurst. |

The calendar will change again..... WA will continue to keep the boarder closed, SA will probably throw in more testing requirements and that will pull the handbrake on any racing over there.
More racing on the eastern side of the country, with probably Darwin the only western state to see some racing. |

How is it that all major racing championships held 2021 seasons largely undisturbed by Covid while it's only Supercars which suffered from strange calendar changes because of restrictions? Seems as if Australia stayed in 2020 while the rest of the world moved on.

Standard discussion up here goes 'That must have been 3 years ago. Well, 3+2020 which we don't count...' |

Not sure about staying in 2019 in this case (although yes, 2020 was quite a no show) but truth is most championships had pretty normal 2021 while Supercars was badly affected.

That might be true actually although 2020 was still very far from normal. But yeah, I get your point now fully.

NZ will be doubtful, still not opening for tourists until 2022/23 summer according to an article in today’s newspaper.

Geez, how much has changed since my post, some testing requirements are now dropped....
WA still holding out as much possible to be honest, whilst Darwin could very well become an issue as someone else mentioned. If they do so to protect some of the communities up there, then so be it. Early days yet for 2022, but there's a few elections to be had as well at various points next year, so anything can still happen.... |

Good thing that Mr Quinn has done up the dunny block at QR, with the new variant of the Chinese wog we might finish up with 15 rounds of Supercars at the paperclip!

I still can't believe that after all those weekends at SMP they didn't alter the track that was used one bit from each weekend, consider a 2x250 format or even co-drivers, just something to change it up. Luckily the weather had some good intension to provide us with some entertainment factor... With most boarders now open, I just hope that the season can get some legs and they put on a decent show. Disappointed no Phillip Island round |
