Silverstone National Rds. 25/26/27
The BTCC arrives at Silverstone's National Circuit this weekend.
Saturday = YouTube 15:25-16:30 Sunday = ITV4, 10:45-18:00 BTCC Race Times = 11:30, 14:20, 17:10 Timetable TSL BARC Noticeboard Entry List BTCC - 20 PCCGB - 25 (12 Pro, 8 Pro-Am, 5 Am) Aiden Neate debuts with Eden Race Drive (in the car previously raced by Malin and Allen). The Entry List shows him as a Pro, but during testing this week he was registered as a Pro-Am. The Am class field is boosted by the returning Karl Leonard (a former class winner and outright race-winner at Croft a few years ago) and ex-Sprint Challenge racer Callum Davis. British F4 - 22 Abbi Pulling and Ella Lloyd are in Singapore. Welshman Harri Reynolds debuts in Ella Lloyd's car. Emily Cotty debuts with Phynsis by Argenti. Gustav Jonsson returns after a year away with CDR. Thomas Bearman (15yr old brother of F1/F2 racer Ollie Bearman) debuts with Hitech. MINI Challenge Trophy - 28 Porsche Sprint Challenge GB - 25 (16 RS + 9 CS) Jamie Osborne debuts in (I think) the absent Robert Cronin's car. Elle Davis joins with CCK in CS Am. First time in many years that I'm not attending either day of this meeting.
The combination of a 2 hour+ drive each way, a £40 Sunday ticket, a lacklustre support (4 Porsche races on the Sunday!) plus forecast wet weather is too much for me this year. |

Weather forecast looks pretty awful, thundery showers on and off all weekend. Qualifying could be a total lottery

I went to the TCR at Silverstone this year, basically because I got free tickets, however normally I avoid Silverstone like the plague (for a number of reasons).

Goodyear are giving teams greater freedom on tyres for this round, not that it looks likely that anyone will be using anything other than wet tyres. Possibly they will even need ones suitable for monsoons let alone a selection of soft slicks.

I presume they don’t still allow teams to use cut slicks for damp conditions?

That's been gone for years now, possibly because it only really worked for fwd cars running slick rears and wet fronts and therefore is an unfair advantage of sorts.

Don’t think he’s been back on (BTCC’s) camera since retiring, but Jason Plato will be in attendance this weekend as a guest of Nick Halstead.

Lovely, hope we can get an interview off him on the ITV coverage! I'm sure M.Neal is present again with the folks at restart racing too.

So seems about 5 drivers were black flagged for track limits in FP1…

One of the Mini Challenge drivers lost 14 laps for track limits in their qualifying session.
An unfortunate consequence of massive tarmac runoff. |

Not seen quali yet but I see the results. What on Earth happened to Sutton? Maybe the hybrid on such a short lap. If they can't find some pace in that car for tomorrow it's Ingram or maybe Hill's championship I think.

He said it's their worst track due to the other cars being faster on the straights and there only being four corners. Hill seemed to be having a bit of a moan about the straight line speed of the Hyundai.

ATS, Doble and Zelos all DSQ. Ingram inherits pole. Wasn’t there discussion a while ago about tweaking the ride height rules in changing weather, since so many always get caught out? (a rare occasion Ingram wasn’t on the receiving end!)
