Fisi in a Sauber??
According to Autosport.com.
Is this a good idea? Heidfeld (Mclaren)in a Jordan Mercedes next year I guess will be the result.. |

Uh, they both sound like bad ideas.

Well, that's at least 2 teams so far for Nick, since other web stories have talked about him going to Jaguar, and opening up a spot for Massa. I would have thought Fisi would only go forward, not sideways or back. But a lot of drivers will go anywhere for a drive in F1, just to keep their hand in it, otherwise they may never be seen again.

Somehow this seems like a red herring to me. Sauber???? Oh come on. My guess is that its a smoke screen behind all the recent Coulthard news... Hmmmmmmm.

I dont think it will be a huge step forward for Fisco to go to Sauber .He's 28 he really needs to go to one of the big guns ,perhaps a replacement for Coulthard

Fisi seems to have hit it off with EJ - so I agree, it would have to be an upward move if he is going to change, especially if Jordan are looking to get more 'grunt' out of their package.

He has got his sole win with EJ so I guess he would feel a little better towards Jordan.
Trouble is I think that's it. He's reached his level. He's not showing that well against Firman to make me think he's special. Maybe I'm just a cynic but really, if you had the choice of Wilson, Massa, Heidfeld or Fissichella, which one has shown the most determination, grit and natural ability this year? |

I don't think that Fisi would be any better off in a Sauber, at Jordan he knows the team, they know him and he has a good relationship with EJ. If he jumped across to Sauber he'd have to get used to working in a different environment with different engineers etc and he'd have to go through a 'settling in' period. Given that the Sauber isn't any better than the Jordan there's no real benefit to be had.
I'd like to see Fisi in a top team but I have a feeling he could be at Jordan for some time to come - he'll probably never get a top drive now - the top teams will bring younger drivers through so he's always going to be in a 'lesser' team. |

Quite disappointing; it wouldn't be a great step forward, would it?

Wouldn't be much of a step forward at all. When you look at the overall results from this year, moving to Sauber would only mean the next car up the grid compared to Jordan...

Sauber is a better place for Fisi, better reliability, speed and team stability. What's more, the link with Ferrari could be important.

I'd rather want to see Fisi make a switch with Coulthard, so B&H can increase their sponsorship money and Fisi's a happy chappy.

I'd like him to stay with Jordan....given a Merc engine they might be well worth watching.
Then again, Sauber have the works Ferrari engine for 2004 don't they? Might be ome sense in it after all. |

I don't think it would be an effective link to Ferrari for Fisi. He's already gone to Luca and said he'd sell his soul for a drive, you can't get more direct than that. Last edited by senna12; 18 Jul 2003 at 15:28. |
