Le Mans 2002 final realesed for EAF1 2002
Finally folks it out Le Mans for EA F1 2002 has been realesed it came out yesterday, it is going to be downloaded 2 morrow and I will report back have no fear........

Its funny. The cars look good - until you get into them! And those sounds - they really need to improve them, most of them sound like a dying mosquitoe! I've actually managed to find a little bit of playability, but despite the lure of Le Mans, its still not good enough to keep me away from GPL.

yup, i only got it for the lemans 2k2 track for scr i want to add a couple cars, but, teh vehicle folder is a mess.

I hate to be critical about it - its Le Mans after all, and the guys who developed it have obviously worked very hard (having said that, Matt's SCGT Le Mans track seems largely unchanged in what is, in effect, a conversion). I guess I've been hoisted by my own petard - I have a reasonably high-spec machine on which I can run GPL with all the eye-candy - and it looks beautiful and drives just as good as it looks. The F12002 game and the various mods which have followed just don't look as good (although the replays aren't bad) - particularly in the cockpit. And the driving experience simply doesn't match up either. Then again, I've been driving GPL for quite a while, so I won;t give up on F12002 LM just yet. What we need is for someone to take the Le Mans concept and do a real sim - like Infogrammes tried (and failed).

Another thought. Perhaps someone who is used to driving F12002 and the mods could post the settings they use for steering and so on. I've taken virtually all of the aids off as I don't like the experience to be artificial, but the force feedback for starters feels horrible at the moment. Is there the equivalent of GPL's core.ini file in F12002 that you can play around with?

There is a file in your player directory in which you can fiddle round with some settings. As you said you need to turn all the aids off - autoclutch is a must though if you haven't got a clutch pedal! Someone over at the simbin site has posted an excellent wheel setup for the MOMO force and a guide on how to get the FF setup properly. It does make a big difference - since I have setup mine like that I've become more consistent and you can "feel" the car more somehow.

Interesting, thanks jpc - can you point me a bit closer to the MOMO link (for my beloved Force ). That's really what I'm missing, I think, "feel" as you so rightly describe it.

Try that link Ayse! Personally I'm a little dissapointed with the Lemans 2002 mod . The cockpits aren't very good and the sounds are a little too sewing machine-ish for my taste. It does have some good qualities though and I definitely appreciate the efforts put into this MOD; but in the end I think I'll keep playing GT-2002 for my sportscar racing fix. If you really want to race prototypes though I would recommend RSDG's SCRmod. |

It worked well for me - improved feel in GTR2002, SCR and the BPR mod loads. I keep meaning to try it with the Mini Coopers or the Alfa 147 stuff but I don't think it was designed for front wheel drive cars so might not be as useful there. Whats the new Lemans 2002 like? I'm not worried about the graphics and sounds so much but does it "feel" right like GTR does? |

I've got the SCR and BPR mods, but I can't judge whether the LM02 mod feels good or not. None of them have felt right to me yet. I certainly agree with ace about the cockpit graphics and the very naff car sounds, but then I've been spoiled, I guess.

why are you expecting 60-70s no grip open hweel races to feel the same as current, high grip/downforce cars of today?
btw - if your using a logitech wheel, ff needs to be set a negative value. if ff is set on postive, itll feel like steeringt asstence is on. |

Finally had a look at, had a few PC problems with my machine, so I installed it on my dad's and it OK, not fantastic, not rubbish. Will have sit down and have a longer look at the weekend.........

Just as an aside, has anyone tried running 50 cars - I have and the glitching was really bad, anyone else had the same problem?

a: ive a good system ... 2200xp+, 1gb ram, and 9700 pro 128mb ... and i dont try to run over 31 cars. i average 40-70fps depending on whose left running and where i am on track with details on full or high with hud, videos, and voice over lays off and pits on low. if you want to try to run all 50, id suggest the same amount of ram and graphixs card, but, a 3ghs processor optiomally.
b: ai are weird in games. mbd battling joest r8s? mgs hitting 173mphs but not needing to brake for the mulsanne chicanes until you get into them. this is from scr though. its a general thing for mods in f1 2k2 from what ive played. ive only played scr, lm2k2, and mini lm93 so ... |

thats just the way it is with some mods :| scr seems perfectly planted, but, gtr2k2 wheelies is every car. the quoted cure is to crank more downforce on the front :|
if you wanted to, you could destory the front wing, crak max rear downforse, highst possible front ride height and lowst possible rear ride height, soft the rear to the max and then just go up hill at somewhere like r. america or lemans, and youll get your car to do a straight back flip ... heh |
