World Rallycross R6 - Mettet, Belgium
Has anyone managed to buy advance tickets on the internet?
www.mettetrx.com states: "35 euros in pre-sales The tickets for this world event are fixed at 50 euros. But one can benefit from a major reduction in pre-sales (35 euro +fees)." However when you go to http://www.ticketnet.be/fr/manifesta...nif/10275/#bas there isn't a 35Euro option... TARIF - 12ANS TRIBUNE 18.00 € TICKET + TRIBUNE + CAMPING 68.00 € SUPPLÉMENT TRIBUNE (PRÉVENTE) 15.00 € SUPPLÉMENT TRIBUNE + CAMPING (PRÉVENTE) 30.00 € SUPPLÉMENT CAMPING (PRÉVENTE) 15.00 € TARIF - 12 ANS 30.00 € PREVENTE 38.00 € TICKET + CAMPING 53.00 € Any ideas??? |

The 'prevente' option for 38e is the 35 ticket + 3euro handeling option to the best of my knowledge.

Frode Holte has withdrawn from the race. He was unhappy with something, don't know what though

Why would the FIa do that?? Safety?
Politics to blame for the standard tracks losing their rounds, plus WRX want to go to new places and also ahve jumps etc, hence this place and Italy. I know folk that are going so will see what they say before commenting, but the place looks fine, its easy tog et to from UK, near several large towns for hotels. Just see what the track is like huh |

Maybe they were mainly afraid to have a startstraight as long as like back in the days at Brands Hatch and also having the Joker Lap detour in the first corner...?
I for myself think that a slower track could maybe produce more havoc than a faster one... Tomorrow eve we'll know more about Mettet. |

I'm reserving judgement until I've actually seen it in action. Worrying thing is on the one hand you've got promoters who want to see contact (in the US at least, not made my mind up about IMG yet) and the FIA on the other who are safety obsessed to the point of OCD. Just look at some of the God awful circuits they've sanctioned around the World for F1 in the last 10 years. Still going to wait and see though, although the clockwise direction looks like a far better track.

Agreed: though my first reaction when I looked at the circuit layout was the same as Hickey.
The first turn at Estering is pretty close to the start line, but this looks like an even shorter run up? The World Rallycross Championship seems to have such great momentum this year, I hope the decision to move to a new circuit in Belgium doesn't mess things up. |

I think a lot of contact issues are hen they have jokers off the start.
I do think its sad that the only reason they havent gone to Mechelen, Valkenswaard, Sosnova and Poland is because of money, no other reason. Oh, and greed from the promoters! These circuits are established, well run and decent,a nd get big crowds. I just hope that evetually common sense will prevail. |

Watching it on Eurosport wet and horrible by the looks of it, first corner seems to be causing a lot of problems, a lot of cars suffering damage from there , the jumps and the tyre piles dotted around the circuit. Doesn't look like theres a lot of spectating areas, will be interested to hear from those who went what it was like.

For me eye
I am not so keen on the travelling to Canada, Argentina. I think ithat is a bit of a bridge too far for this year. I think they should have a round at Xgames, that would proper raise profile to staggering levels. Certainly should have Poland, Czecho and Holland. Lose Portugal unless they go to lousada, that place is hideous and only reason they go there is so bosses can have a nice holiday Im sure! |

Just en route back to Calais. We stood in front of monster rig and could see the whole circuit except the startline itself. Only criticisms of the circuit are the stupid jump before the joker which broke a number of cars including Solberg's rear suspension I think in the final. Also the inside of the first corner was a bit wet, but that jump seemed ok. Spoke to Andy Scott last night who suffered damage from the second jump. Only other thing slightly worrying was no red flags the entire weekend, especially when Van Mechelen's fiesta was in the middle of the track just in front of the first blind jump. Have to say the meeting seemed very organised for their first Euro/World RX event, spectating was good and getting out of the circuit was a piece of cake. VW dominated and the EKS Audis and Larsson went very well. In the paddock compared to the other teams Liam's Monster team outfit look decidedly messy compared to the other main players. EKS sets the standard and Marklund look extremely professional in their workmanship. Quality weekend!

Observations
Not a bad event considering it was the first time a rallycross event was run at the circuit The preoccupation for new circuits to create a jump is going to be the downfall of the sport. What has tommy kristofferson being doing? Has he taken up boxing. Looks a nasty injury Robin larsson continues to impress. Ok he has got a lot of experience behind him in Lars and jernberg but he is driving it well apart from the 4th heat Has albatec deliberately poached solbergs top man and some of proctors lads as well? EKS are going to be tough to beat once they get into their stride. Dd they really get 25,000 people there? |

Didn't have time to watch the full livestream last night, but managed to watch the Semi Finals and Final. Unsurprisingly a few incidents on the first corner, but good to see the track seemed to have some passing points.
The second jump looked to be causing some major issues, especially for Solberg. His car looked properly ****ed when they showed it after the race had finished! They mentioned about cars being loaded onto the boat to Canada on Tuesday, guess the Solberg team will have some serious work to do before then (or perhaps they will just pack the Hvaal car for Canada). Better weekend for the Monster team, at least both cars made it to the Semi finals. Shame Jeanney didn't make the final, really want to see him fighting for wins again. Unusually troubled weekend for OMSE, they seemed to be really fighting with the cars. Last edited by tbtstt; 14 Jul 2014 at 08:52. |

In reference to the jump
As in the US, you dont have to go flat out over it, not every car had damage oging over it, the Peugeots in particular seemed able to attack it very hard and not break suspension. Petter's cars have always been too soft, its why Hvaal quit, they wouldnt change it for him. or the car was unable to be changed. Petter likes it that way, but I doubt many others do. What the hell was Walfridsson doing, total garbage driving, glad he was DSQ, pathetic. |

The Peugeots are built upon R5 cars and in collaboration with Peugeot Sport. To be perfectly honest, I do believe they have the best cars in the WRX and are able to go a bit faster. Engines seems to be the biggest problems, blown a lot of them.
