Grid4 isn't hte other Grid.
The first, Ford engined "cream" car, was debuted at Monza in 1982 then, after LM went to the USA where, painted red was raced in IMSA, driven by Derek Daly, Tom Sneva and others, returned in Europe for LM 83 and Brands Hatch, then it was sold to British team Techspeed, that used the car mainly in the "Thundersport" series and for a round of the Gp.C series (picture Grid.004), I can remember that Tony Lanfranchi drove it. The second car had a Porsche "956" engine, red, started racing in the IMSA Miami Grand Prix, sporting sponsorhip from spanish singer Julio Iglesias, then came to Europe for the Gp. C championship. Prepared by Porsche specialist Charles Ivey it was driven by Dudley Wood and others, the results were poor.... It reappered, completely reworked and painted yellow-blue-green at the beginning of the 1985 season, did some testing, then driver-owner Dudley Wood bought himself a drive in a John Fitzpatrick Racing Porsche 956...... |

I dont know if this helps, but I had lunch yesterday with Robert Parker who still owns the DFL engined GRID. Whilst he still has the original Group C body, I remember that the body was modified to open sports prototype spec in about 1986. The last time I saw it out was a very wet Thundersports race at Oulton Park either at the end of '87 or beginning of '88. Robert drove it with Nick Faure. Robert is interested in selling the car and would be happy to chat to anyone about the car. email me for his number if you are interested.

It only applies to the two sub forums of the HRT forum. There are a number of differences to these two SFs (particularly this one) including some additional rules. And .... I'll remove these last 4 posts after a few days when they have been noted!

I'm glad the colour change has been mentioned though as it helps me identify some photos I've got!!
I'd never heard of the GRID before but I do remember some of the Thundersports stuff, maily because Dad (Gerry Marshall) put a fair amount (I could say how much but that would be churlish of me) of money into Tim Lee Davey, needless to say he lost it all, anway.....before the lawyers move in............ One of the reasons for sponsoring Tiddly D was because of his connections with Tony Lanfranchi and Brands Hatch and I notice one of the colour (yellow car) photos on the 1st page of this thread is Tony and guess what, in my Tony Lanfranchi file I have quite a few pictures of Tony driving this car and had absoloutely no idea what it was but I do now!! Would it be of any interest for anyone if I posted these photos?? |

Photos? Of a racing car? Of interest? Here? You must be joking.
NOT!!!! I remember a great shot of the Grid in Grand Prix International, in its mentalist but glorious "Fortnightly Glossy" period. Caption was something like "yellow goes well on this old Grid. It nearly won the C2 category" (in relation to the 1000km of Brands IIRC). |

Re Interserie:
In my database I have an entry by a Robert Parker (2nd driver Nick Faure) for the 1990 race at Brands Hatch, July 22. It is the Cosworth car, GA01, indeed, and it is 20th on the grid (or 17th as 3 cars in front DNS). I have no results for this race other than the first 3 + the first 3 in class. It carried number 18. |

Both heats of the race were won by Lechners 962. In heat 1, he was followed by Pipers C2 Spice, Coppelli's Momo/Gebhardt Audi, Gotz' March Heidegger, Dave Coyne in the Bross Argo, Dahmen's 962, and Roland Binder's Ralt BMW.
In heat 2, it was Lechner, then Coyne, Gotz, Binder, Dahmen, Eddie McLurgs March 822, Becker's Lola T600, Neuman's Maurer/START Mazda, Copelli, Chris Ashmore's Harrier, Jauslin's Argo, and Josef Binder's Lola Horag. From memory I didn't get there to see heat 1, but the GRID definitely didn't start in heat 2. RTH himself was entered in the Atkins Tiga Rover. |

Thank you, Dan,
I had more than I thought, because I didn't realise it was run in heats, so I didn't look in that column (off the right side of the page in normal view). In the first heat I have also McLurg and Becker as 9 and 10, while my second heat was far less complete than yours. You mention Chris Ashmore's Harrier, in my list I have Richard Lenik and Gamble as drivers, and Ashmore only as entrant. Still there is no real overall classification beyond the first three places. And indeed no results for the GRID, except its rather lowly grid position, for a category I car. |
