Aston Martin Vantage V8 GT2

Chassis 001 now in the hands of Drayson-Barwell, delivered just in time for Round 3 of the ALMS at Long Beach on 19/4/2008 where it finished 11th in GT2 class in the hands of Paul Drayson and Jonny Cocker. Fuelled by E85 Bio-ethanol and run by Barwell Motorsport, the car handled well with good brakes but currently down on power compared to rivals. Stunning looking car.

Are Gigawave still getting 002?

And are there any more orders known?

As it turns out, Drayson-Barwell actually owns #001 and 002, the 2nd car being for spares. So it would appear if the Gigawave car was never built.

Or the planned Gigawave car is in fact the James Watt Automotive car...as the livery on that car look rather like Gigawave's current livery

That chassis belongs to AMR/Prodrive and is a development car.

As far as I am aware James is still getting 003.

And I found a photo of two chassis painted up in Drayson-Barwell's colours.

http://picasaweb.google.com/dkraige/...01261846246386

Which I take is 001 & 002 (WMUCarGuy said above that Drayson-Barwell have two chassis's)

Did Drayson even own either of the Vantage GT2's?

Note that whichever of the Drayson (no longer a Barwell connection) cars is being raced currently, is running on second generation bio fuel (produced from dead wood).

I think #005 is this one:
http://translate.googleusercontent.c...F0ziYQzWFNN9DQ

Then there is also the JMW and two Beechdean Vantage's.

And just for the record...the car used at Okayama in the Asian Le Mans Series was the development car.

So which chassis' are been used in the 2012 WEC/ALMS Works Effort then? I know they're upgraded, but are they completely new models as many of the others (JMW, Jota Sport etc) are now for sale?

A little history of Vantage GT2 (from Bonhams.com)

"Intended for customer use in both FIA and ACO races, the GT2 version of the V8 Vantage coupé was introduced in 2007.

The V8 Vantage GT2 made its competition debut at the Grand Prix of Long Beach in 2008 and since then the car has competed at major venues around the world, including Le Mans.

The prototype, chassis number 'X2', was followed by nine production cars. Of these ten GT2s only three remain intact, the rest having been crashed, fire damaged or broken for parts."

GT2/003

For sale here
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C777665

"This car, chassis number GT2/003, was ordered by its current and only owner in April 2008 in order to compete at the Nurburgring in August that year. However due to minor technical issues its first and only race came at the Silverstone 1000kms in September where it was driven by Tim Sugden in its first and last outing. The car both started and finished the race with a creditable 6th place in class.
Fully prepared post race for the forthcoming 2009 series the car was placed in conditioned and maintained storage where it has remained since."

According to the 2016 Le Mans yearbook the Beachdean car used in the ELMS and at Le Mans is chassis no X2 which is of 2008 vintage. Can this be true?
