Alan Jones should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The Ford Sierra

I was watching higlights of the Bathurst 1000 and in 1988 it was filled with Sierras and I don't think they were for sale in Australia at the time. What were there specs etc etc?
Can anyone out there help and were they as potent in the street legal form?

ahh, that will be the great Sierra Cosworth then

4 different models, basically 2.0 litre, 4 cylinder, 16 valve turbo charged, and some with 4 wheel drive. Standard specs from 204bhp to 225bhp, and can be tuned to 600bhp even in street legal form

see http://www.turbocharger.co.uk/ for loads of info

AJ, Sierras were never available in Australia, though a few have been privately imported. Fortunately these are nearly all the performance models, we were spared the bread and butter cars.

Basically there is the:-

XR4i - 2.8 injected V6 with 6 window body.

XR4Ti - 2.3 DOHC 16v injected turbo in-line 4 with 6 window body.

RS Cosworth - 2.0 DOHC 16v injected turbo in-line 4 with 4 window body, plus huge rear wing and deeper skirts and vents.

RS 500 - As for the Cosworth, but with bigger turbo, bigger brakes, wilder kit with even more vents, only 500 built. Dick Johnson had one for his drive car. Rego. no. Q 17.

Bob Tweedie is racing the ex-Seton Sierra at Oran Park this weekend. I saw it today and it still looks good in the Peter Jackson colours.
