Champ Car will release its 2005 race schedule....
Pinched unashamedly from elsewhere in my travels.
According to Autoweek: http://autoweek.com/article.cms?articleId=101072 Champ Car plans Champ Car will release its 2005 race schedule Oct. 29, according to series officials. The series expects to have its new television package nailed down by that date, too. Champ Car honchos are quiet about the pending TV deal. What’s known is CBS will broadcast at least six races. Cable partners for the balance of the schedule haven’t been settled. They could include a CBS/Viacom cable affiliate like USA or Spike, or former cable partner Speed. Nor has the series given up on a race next season in Bahrain. Key officials plan to travel west from the race in Surfers Paradise, Australia, to the Middle East. Downside I don't like is if they are on business in the middle east right now, chances are there will be a TBA on the release. I don't think the series needs TBA's again. |

Thanks for the good news, Snout. I'm getting tired of waiting so I hope they have some positive news for us.

Kk states in my other thread "We didn’t want it to be issued with any unconfirmed dates." . So if no TBA's are to happen I'm not sure how close Bahrain is. Maybe closer than we think, maybe really 2006.

I'm glad to see someone is reporting that the schedule is due soon. I could deal with one TBA if it is an expansion to this years schedule. If it's just smoke to fill a schedule I'll be disappointed. More than one would not be very good.
In retrospect, whatever happens it will certainly be better than what was going on one year ago. |

This TSN report may not be "news" to you, but it's the first I've heard that any agreements may have been reached...

Well it's looking near certain that Canada shall have 4 races next year.
Edmonton shall most likely happen if not Calgary. |

If RM is correct then that means no Road America or Laguna Seca in 2006.

Right at the bottom of that link.
"Note to media: Greg Macdonald will make every effort to return all media calls and make himself available for interviews today. He will not be releasing further details of the Edmonton Indy until the official launch in November." So sounds like it will be on the schedule tomorrow, and they'll also have a fanfare meet and press palms deal in Nov. |

Dov, I assume you meant 2005?
Remember, the Laguna announcement said "pending negotiations." There's still a hole in the schedule at the announced Laguna date, and a TBA for Sept 4... |

I read that this morning, too....
14 races thus far to be announced at a news conference today...with two possibly added later Those two are allegedly Vancouver and Road America, which are still under negotiation...(according to Steve Ballard) The new stops are Edmonton and San Jose.... Long Beach is the opener, althought OWRS would like to have an event open earlier than that on the schedule.... No mention of Seoul... No mention of Argentina...although that March 20 date could happen with the door being left open by the note following the Long Beach item above... Sounds like Laguna is gone to me... and Robin Miller's schedule has 17 slots...Ballard says 14 to be announced today, with possibly adding two....and Laguna is not one of those two in the Star's article... Of course Edmonton could replace Vancouver, and the spots could be Laguna and Road America stil negotiating... Guess we'll find out following today's news conference... |

Question:
Why on Earth would OWRS want to race on the Streets of Buenos Aires, when they have a top-notch road course there that hosted F-1 races??? That one is really out in left field.... and Puerto Rico....where did that one surface from??? No one has talked about Puerto Rico in the spring.... |

BTW...
The configuration of the Edmonton Airport's runways should make for a great road course.... a lot more room for imagination therre than what Cleveland's offers.... |

I can't understand where the San Jose deal is yet, frankly. Again, nothing today in the Mercury-News. No report of city council action, no buzz, no hype, no nuthin' since the initial rumor. I can't believe that race is a done deal. Nobody "official" out there has had anything to say about it.

I have doubted San Jose from the beginning of the rumors, Tiresmoke, and thought it was just being used as some kind of pseudo-leverage against Laguna Seca.

Started a new thread, discussing the actual schedule, as opposed to speculating.
