ive heard of somone doing this before with a Nissan and not voiding the warranty, rang Nissan up and they said something like that as long as the Performance part has been proven to be not at fault, but im pretty sure body kits are ok (but dont go too far with the body mods without Performance to back it up, Honda's are prone to being turned into Rice mobiles)

The trouble with bodykits is that any unauthorised holes in the panelwork will cause problems in the event of a warranty claim for rust.

woody, i can't believe you've not heard of a rice racer (ricer). Some less kind souls on this forum tell me you own one youself.
It's a late model, Japanese or European small car, with very large wheels, very wild body kit, massive exhaust tip, lots of stickers and minimal ride height. They are so named because the trend was initially started by wealthy Asian students in Japanese cars, usually Hondas. |

The best way to handle these types is to laugh, because they are probably missing something downstairs
Then again, I've seen some horrid things done to Mondeos... eeeekkk |

I like modifieds but i prefer racing. I also prefer more go than show. And i prefer to hear the engine rather than a stereo, but bodykits can improve the looks of a standard car. Today i was at a tuning garage and there was a new 1.2 Corsa getting modified (body kit, wheels, exhaust etc) i dont see the point in spending a lot of money on such a car. I would at least start with a performance model and with a bigger engine. My own car is white 1.8 Ford Fiesta XR2i 16v, as far as Mk3 Fiestas go, its one of the best models along with the RS1800 and Fiesta Turbo. Its modified to 150bhp and weighs around 950kg. I changed the rear and side lights to blue ones, which makes a huge differece. Its not a Skyline or anything, but if anyone calls it a rice car or boyracer car, then tuff coz i like it and its fun to drive |

Woody I agree with you the best way to build a hot rod is to start with a factory one. A lot of the basics are already done. If you start with a base model and option it up, it will end up costing you more and you won't get much on resale.

it aint rice if it has performance (usually)
that link i put in the turbo v. supercharger thread was a major ricer, usually its just heaps of stickers of brands that dont have any of thei parts on the car (like a HKS sticker on a car with no HKS parts on it) see www.riceboypage.com www.ricecop.com |

How much better would that Supra look if the flares were body colour?
It's not rice without a million stickers. |

The bit i don't get with 'performance' riceburners is the fact that they usually weigh them down with the sound system from a Metalica concert. Going back to that blockbuster comedy movie, 'The Rice and The Furious', those things that ran on pure hydrogen/nitro were being held back by woofers which weighed more than the car!
