CART and Texas Motor Speedway confirmed that they will hold a 600km race event there next year. The track has been a major success in the area and is the only track to host CART, IRL, and NASCAR races.

Not really. CART and NASCAR already have some races with metric distance designations. One thing that I was curious about was the banking on the track. At one time the argument against going there was that it is too high. The cars will not be able to contain the g-loading without a major redesign. The road course section at the track has just recently been finished for the upcoming ALMS event and CART sometimes uses the metric designation for its road racing events. It is possible that they event may run the infield road course (Daytona-style) and a portion of the banking.
