ALMS At Laguna Seca Weekend Thread
Thursday is a test day, with the session beginning at 3:30 Pacific Time, plus night practice later this evening...
Thus activities for the final race of the 2005 season will get underway in a few hours.... I look forward to reading your thoughts on the session results, and especially to how the Zytek will run and compete with the Audis now that the Zytek will be racing on a course that is very well suited to it. I'm also hoping that Intersport's LMP2 can come from behind to win the season championship in that class... Question: Does anyone know if Radio ALMS or the Live Timing & Scoring will be activated for these sessions today and this evening, since they are calling them "Test Sessions"??? THanks, and I look forward to reading your posts over the next few days... |

Actually Tim, today's test session starts at 2:35pm PDT and runs till 4:05pm according to the ALMS website. The one-hour night practice session commences at 6:15pm.
I sincerely hope they have LTS for today's test sessions. I'm looking forward to seeing how the DBA-Zytek does on this track. It should be quicker than the little Lolas. However, their lack of experience on this track will hurt them. You have to have a good setup to run quick at Laguna. I expect to see the Audis right there, as I think this track suits them. But don't count the #16 Dyson car out for pole. Intersport showed some good pace at Petit to. These six cars will have a good battle. Last edited by jhansen; 14 Oct 2004 at 18:25. |

Are you going, Jhansen????
and BTW...thanks for the corected time....that means I'll get to tune in (provided it is available in Live Timing & Scoring) before I go to coach football practice this evening. and I agree....set-up is crucial at Laguna....hopefully, Creation will be able to get a handle on it and sort a good set-up before Saturday afternoon/evening |

YES, I will be there!
I'm very anxious to see the DBA-Zytek up close and personal. I have not had the pleasure to see it yet. And I will be taking plenty of pictures to! I didn't think to ask this during the Petit weekend...but I assume Creation is running the wider wing for the two ALMS events? And any other rules they may be able to take advantage of under the 2003 specs. Last edited by jhansen; 14 Oct 2004 at 18:45. |

Looking forward to being there as well ...
I, too, am anxious to see the Zytek in person as well as see Intersport's P1 Lola run the race (since it cracked its tub during practice at Sonoma). I am bummed that AutoCon is going to miss the show, but it'll be fun no matter what. I'll be taking lots of pictures as well. Going with a friend who is an ALMS first-timer, so that should be interesting... |

A Few Comments:
1. I haven't seen the Zytek in person yet....hope to see it at Sebring... 2. If you think you are bummed about AutoCon, just read my signature at the bottom.... 3. I envy both of you....Laguna is a gorgeous race track, and someday I would love to attend a race there.... |

I missed three days of classes for Petit, so there was no way I'd be making it out there this weekend- so bummed! Excited for qualifying tomorrow...hope to see Creation on top (I may be a traitor but I'm not dillusional).

I'm shocked Shady...not routing for the Intersport car!
Although, I to would like to see the DBA-Zytek on top. And I'm an Audi fan! lol Too bad you can't make it out west. This one should be a cracker. |

Results from the first test session are up http://www.americanlemans.com/paddoc...aSeca_test.pdf
Nothing too suprising- nice to see Risi doing well and Creation 2nd. Only a few 100ths between the Courage and us...good stuff. too bad about no LT&S/Radio tho =( ..and I ALWAYS root for #37!! lol Don't worry, that car ought to finish this race since I'm not there (for those paying attention, 37 has never finished a race I've attended and 30 has never lost one I've attended). |

Thanks for the link Shady. Good stuff!
I think Creation's effort is very solid considering their lack of experience with the track. They'll only get quicker. Nice to see the #20 Dyson car outpace the #16 car for once. |

What could explain the two seconds gap between the Audis ? Not bad for the Courage and the B2K/44 too, at least seriously beyond the Vettes... Last edited by Fab; 15 Oct 2004 at 05:19. |

as far as I know ,Creation will run the car close to LMES spec ,as they have all their setup and development work done in that configuration.
If anybody pops into their pit give them a big HUG from MARCUS and YVONNE from Germany and wish them all the best, please! I would have loved to be there.... IMO they will need all practise sessions to get the car to its full potential, but I´m sure they ´ll get it sorted come race day. The only concern is reliability and race encounters as the DBA is quite vulnerable to robust (Audi) nudges,as could be seen in every race they attended this year..so it´s not a lack of preparation but the car is really delicate compared to the truck called Audi....wich is a real fast truck, admittedly. |

For those that don't look, here are some excellent pics from the Thursday test sessions. Love them red hot breaks at night!

Here's the results from this morning's practice:
http://www.americanlemans.com/paddoc..._practice2.pdf Good to see the Creation car closing in on the Audi. Now only about 4 tenths shy of the #38 Champion car. Champion car #2 is third followed by the two Dyson cars. The Intersport P1 car didn't turn any laps. Hope everything is ok. Oh yeah, and does any car look better than the Champion car at night? http://www.americanlemans.com/galler...ting/16_lg.jpg |
