Corona Rally Mexico
Well its three weeks away from the second Corona Mexico Rally.
What can we expect? Who’s hot and who’s not? What are your predictions? Last edited by Peter Mallett; 28 Feb 2005 at 10:21. |

I think it'll be down to the usual suspects - Solberg and Loeb, Loeb is just so smooth and consistent whereas Petter has outrageous speed but sometimes pushes a bit too much.
Other than those two possibly one of the Pugs? They're looking to bow out in style so they should be pushing hard (although again that seems to be part of their problem). Hopefully the Mitsubishis will show the same pace they've had so far this year - they've been something of a pleasant suprise. |

Don't rule out Toni Gardemeister. Markko Martin won it last year in a Focus, and traditionally the words Ford & Mexico go well together.

Im looking forward to it. But they entry list is very poor. I think the main contenders for the win are Markko Martin and Petter Solberg.
I have not seen what Toni Gardermeister can do on gravel. |

Shakedown times are quite interesting. Puegeot might go well and Ford are quite dissapointing. Atkinson is going well so hopefully the rally will prove to be a good one for him but I think Petter will be top of the event.
Loeb had an engine change so I think there is a penalty in store for him. |

The positions at the end of day 2 are like this:-
1. Petter Solberg (Norway) Subaru 3:01.30.5 2. Marcus Gronholm (Finland) Peugeot 29.6 secs behind 3. Markko Martin (Estonia) Peugeot @ 1:23.9 4. Toni Gardemeister (Finland) Ford @ 4:11.5 5. Harri Rovanpera (Finland) Mitsubishi @ 4:12.9 6. Sebastien Loeb (France) Citroen @ 4:48.9 7. Antony Warmbold (Germany) Ford 5:20.0 8. Gilles Panizzi (France) Mitsubishi 5:44.9 9. Armin Schwarz (Germany) Skoda 6:44.5 10. Guy Wilks (Great Britain) Suzuki 15:25.9 Guy Wilks is in the top 10, in his S1600 Suzuki, fantastic. There are only 2 stages today so things shouldn't change too much. |

Well the Fords had a bad time out. But I think Subaru was the team of the rally. Very good altogether!
I also think Solberg has it good for 2005 but anything can happen so give it time to unfold. |
