New tyre markings and softer compounds for Pirelli tyres

Pirelli have been doing a bit of tweaking during the off-season. Tyres now have more colour and the intermediate tyre markings have turned green. The hard tyre will be much faster than it was last season because all of the compounds have closed up together a bit more. So there is now about 0.8 seconds between each compound, rather than about 1.5 seconds.

I'd rather that Pirelli had moved the Silver (nearly black as it now looks) on to one of the Wet compounds.

Red - Super Soft
Yellow - Soft
Blue - Medium
White - Hard

With
Wet - Blue
Intermediate - Silver (nearly black)

That way, on Dry days there isn't any confusion between Silver and White...especially in strong sunlight.

And on wet day the chances of going from Inters (Silver)to Hard (white) tyres is unlikely as teams would want to run the softer compound on a drying track.

Maybe. But at least we know that the tyre that looks nearest to black is the hardest dry tyre, and that there is more colour on the other tyre to make that distinction more obvious. I'm OK with that.

I'm kinda waiting for the day when Pirelli makes tyres that emit coloured smoke. That'll make the spins all the much cooler

I was going to pick you up on having 2 types the same colour, but then I remembered they only use wets when behind the safety car anyway.
