WTCR Race of Morocco 2019
Finally the new season of WTCR is starting next week.
Difficult to say when I was waiting so much for the start of the championship. Previews from TcT and fiawtcr.com are here: https://www.touringcartimes.com/2019...ng-car-season/ https://www.fiawtcr.com/event-previe...-in-marrakech/ Though, shame the first round is in Marrakech, the races themselves can be pretty dull |

I hope they improve the calendar over the next few seasons. The season looks mega, its just a shame 2/3rds of the tracks race poorly.

Autosport are reporting though it's only for this race atm, so it's not confirmed for the full season. Still will be nice to be able to watch WTCR, which I haven't seen properly since moving into my own place in late 2016
Autosport are also saying the Beeb has never shown World Touring Cars before. While it's true it hasn't since it came back in 2005, it did show the 1994 Touring Car World Cup at Donington and the Tourist Trophy in the 1987 WTCC |

Naff Autosport reporting - not that that should surprise us. My guess is their "journalist" knows so little about the subject they don't understand and were too lazy/ stupid to research the history.
If we just get the one meeting then so be it, it's an unexpected bonus so very welcome in my books. Busy weekend viewing wise, BTCC at Brands (cold and wet no doubt!) and NASCAR at Bristol Motor Speedway, both pretty much top of my all time favourite race meets. |

Some things never change.
Again WTCR goofed with the livestreams, nothing available on Facebook |

Looks like they got the BOP kinda right with 23 drivers within 1sec during FP2, all 7 manufacturers within 13 places and widely spread over the timesheet. Gonna be interesting in qualifying later when it finally counts.

Watching facebook.
Muller hit a sausage / baguette with the transmission. Perhaps too low CoG |

Guerrieri on pole in front of Muller and Bjork.
21 cars in 1 second, but VW has disappointed me, Huff is best on P16... |

Coverage of race 1 has started. Muller sent to the back with an engine change penalty.

This circuit is horrendous and what’s this Lynk & Co thing meant to be? A toy car version of a Dodge Challenger?

Ridiculous track. No way of overtaking at all. Coverage is poor, sounds like the cars are silent. Shedden can't enjoy this can he?

Guerrieri wins a largely uneventful affair. Typical Marrakech.

Good news is that, for me at least, coverage has been greatly improved. No issues with the BBC stream and all the graphics are good.
Bad news is that they are racing at Marrakech. As others have said, awful circuit, especially for the season opener. Drivers all looked super racy but nowhere to overtake cleanly... |

Fox Sports 3 (former Speed) aired the race live in Latin America, although they forgot to put the "live" label on the corner of the screen.

Such shame the don't use the long circuit anymore
It is almost impossible to overtake on this shortened one. Think the first real proper races will be in Slovakia Hyundai seems to be struggling a little but indeed, maybe they should get their ride height lower |

well I couldnt find anything for this either on the BBC motorsports pages online, or the red button... they need to improve their promotion of this to make it more accessible

I agree Marrakesh is an awful venue, even worse to start the series.
I couldn’t find the feed on the BBC red button either, not a good start. I was intending to watch on Eurosport anyway but checked the BBC as I was curious... I thought the commentary was as weak as last year with the guys struggling to identify the cars at times. The engine sounds were almost absent from the background and more bizarrely the onboards leading to an amateur feel. This series has great potential but some of the venues and the coverage really aren’t helping... |

For those who couldnt find the stream, I suggest you give Neil Hudson a follow on Twitter. Generally tweets out the livestreams of the WTCR and other races he covers
