A New Team For The IRL In 06?
Don't know much about these guys, but it sounds good -
After creating a driver development program specifically designed to recruit drivers to compete in each series of NASCAR, Craig Racing has decided to form a team to compete in the 2006 IRL Series. Rick Craig, CEO of Craig Racing, decided after much consideration, to begin scouting for possible members of the company’s future racing team within the IRL Series. Although Craig Racing will always consider stock car racing its main cornerstone in the industry, Craig is excited to branch out and test the waters in other series. The company will immediately begin scouting for a driver as plans have been made to begin construction in the near future on a IRL race car. “We are very exciting about our possible racing future within the IRL series. I believe Craig Racing will successfully build and manage a strong and very competitive team for 2006,” says Craig. |

Rick Craig has run a few races in the NASCAR Grand National West series and that's it. He only started racing last year. Sounds like a real stretch to start running cars in all of NASCAR's series and on top of that start an IRL team from scratch.
I think it's one of those press release deals that is used just to get attention. Another thing: "as plans have been made to begin construction in the near future on a IRL race car." Looks like it's amateur hour here. |

While I am inclined to believe this is nothing more than hot air aimed at getting media coverage, with regards to the awful "plans have been made to begin construction in the near future of a (sic) IRL race car" quote... it could just be that they have employed a PR Officer who knows nothing about racing.
I have been surprised and dismayed on a regular basis by how many relatively serious motor sport teams/organisations employ PR officers/representatives who have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. This may just be another sorry example of that! To finish on a positive note ...at least it indicates that "talking" about starting an Indycar team now equates to an opportunity to gain media coverage - that would not have happened, IMHO, in previous seasons. |

Construction of an IRL race car?
Don't they know things have changed a bit in the last 20 years? |
