I hope my question isn't too stupid.
Why does Ducati compete just in Superbikes but not in Grand Prix? Aprilia does both. |

Torsion,
Not a silly question at all. Generally speaking, four stroke motorcycles like the Ducati are of larger capacity, with two strokes being of a capacity between 50cc to 250cc, with a few notable exceptions. For the most part Ducati have made larger four stroke motorcycles. In the late 60's and 70's they made 250 and 450 singles but they were all four strokes. The competition bikes were also four strokes and originally competed in endurance events where a comparative lack of power was less of a handicap. As a smaller company they do not have the resources to develop a two stroke racing program without a concurrent two stroke road bike range. I hope that answers the question. |

Torsion. You may be interested to know that Ducati are likely to enter the new four stroke GP class as soon as they can, along with Aprilia.
What this means for WSB we don't know. I personally think that 750 four rules should be brought back in so twins can not race in WSB. THat or 1000cc limited mod rules. |

Why should twins be banned from SBK?

OK, maybe not banned but at least slowed down a bit. Nobody wants a class where all the bikes are the same.
You only have to look at Honda who realised that they were never really going to compete with a V4 and were forced into building a twin. Twins have an advantage and always have had in WSB. Only mercurial rider talent can overcome this. See Kocinski and Haga and Russell. Not to take anything away from Foggy and Edwards but on a four they won very little. Just think that WSB will struggle alongside GP and that something has to be done to retain some credibility |
