Montagny in Monteiro out ?

I read on Italiaracing.net that Montagny will replace Monteiro in Montreal ... Can anyone confirm this ?

Is this a one-off for the benefit of potential French-Canadian sponsors, as opposed to a lasting switch?

Montagny's racing at Le Mans that weekend, so it's unlikely.....

There is talk of him doing a one-off for Jordan at Magny Cours - as Bernie's concerned there's no French driver in the French Grand Prix.

If Montagny will replace Monteiro for the French race, then I suppose that Monteiro will be back for the Portuguese Grand Prix...

Colin Kolles told to www.Sportmotores.com that Mr Bernie doesn't manage Jordan Midland F1 Team.

Of course, Montagny's racing at Le Mans that weekend for Audi Sport Oreca Team Playstation.

Ill put my money on Montagny racing in the French Grand Prix..

Either with Jordan, or maybe if Fisichella is out of the title hunt, replacing him at Renualt for one race.

Im pretty sure a French team, a French Driver, and a french race would be a good mix.

Gee, that would be a slap in the face for Fisico if he's replaced by Montagny for a race.

Sure would! He sure doesn't deserve it. I'd lose all respect (not that I had a huge amount) for Flav if he did that.

Before I get too worked up, it's highly unlikely...

...surely?

I'd be throwing my lot in with the conspiracy theorists.

Monteiro is a little green, but he's got some ability. I'd like to see him finish out the year.

Why? Massa is doing a stirling job at the moment.

Back on topic: I'd like to see Montagny get his shot at F1 sooner rather than later as he is a real talent and Jordan will do anything to please sponsors, so it's probably a sure thing he'll pop up in the French GP.

Gee, is Bernie concerned there hasn't been an American in the USGP for... for... how many years!?

I guess we should see Scott Speed make his debut there this year!

I want to see Montagny racing in F1 but not like that.

And how about Sebastien Loeb? Forget about Valentino, Seb has the talent to win in any series. And Citroen's withdrawing from the WRC at the end of this year....

Well that didn't stop him helping get Schumacer out of a Jordan and into a Benneton did it?

But why they should replace Monteiro who's not doing too bad in the end with Montagny?
They have a outstanding 3rd driver (Robert Dornboss) that showed to be as fast as the indian and the portoguese at least...if not faster!
I would be really surprised to see Montagny in Jordan!!

The whole idea is not to get rid of Monteiro permanently - it's simply to bring Montagy in for a one-off at Magny Cours.

If Bernie would have anything to say about drivers in their home GP's, Bas Leinders would have run in the Belgian GP last year. So I'm geussing it won't happen for Montagny either. besides, isn't he contracted to Renault?

The difference is there hasn't been a US or Belgian driver for years.

For France it's a very big thing there not being a French driver at the French Grand Prix for the first time in living memory.

Montagny is contracted to Renault but it doesn't mean they won't lend him out for this.

Doornbos is very young. No reason to bring him in prematurely.

Montagny is very experienced.

It would be great for Reanult to get Montagny a one-off. He'd get more experience and have more chance of helping them out on the techncial side, and ti would ge tthe race more local support, alot of whcih is bound to focus on them.

Can't see that happening somehow. Whilst it would be good for the all French connection, Renault are in the WCC hunt. Montagny is not likely to score any more points than Fisi. Plus Franck would have to go out first in qualifying 1 etc which puts him at a disadvantage straight away (the same for Fisi once he returned at the following race).

With the qualifying format as it is, i can't see any of the (top) teams changing drivers unless its vital.
