Data Acquisition Help??
Hi Guys,
Im looking for some help with some race data material if possible. Im a long time motorsport fan and Im trying to do anything I can to get into the sport, with my ideal career target being a Race Engineer of some form. Im a mechanic of 10years and currently studying for a HND in Electronic Engineering and also the Motorsport Data Acquisition CPD course through Oxford Brookes. I also have numerous motorsport engineering books covering all topics. Im wondering if theres any race teams on here that would be able to send me a data file for a past race weekend or testing session for me to study. I currently have AIM, STACK, Race Technology and MoTec software on my laptop but the only files i have been able to use are the sample ones with the software, which I have now exhausted. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Matt P.S. Is the Buddy Fey book worth the £200 price tag? |

I would recommend Jorge Seger's book over Buddy Fey's and its much cheaper.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Analysis-Tec.../dp/076801655X Graham Templetons book also can be a good introduction. Tim |

Data Acquisition Training
Looking for someone to provide me some practical training in data acquisition. Anything from installing, calibrating and checking sensors to reading logged data.
Either trackside or workshop based. I am willing to pay for the training and have no problems with commuting anywhere (UK). I have done a Data Acquisition Course via distance learning but now wanting practical experience which I am struggling to find. I have been playing around with MoTec, AIM, Stack and Race Technology on my own laptop but have been limited to using the free data supplied only. Please contact me if you can help in anyway. Thanks |

Have you tried phoning motec?, emails are very easily ignored. telephone calls are less easily ignored!
also try contacting Cosworth/Pi? |

Race Technology do a half day training course on the last Thursday of each month. They're based in Nottingham and it's free. I found it very worthwhile as a beginner to logging.
If you PM me your email address, I'll email you some simple log files. |

Get thee a data geek! (true job description)
I, an engineer and computer person, had great difficulty gaining true information from the data my Aim system was giving me. So I hired a data geek to review the data from one of my runs (yes, I know that you don't have a car). Then spend 1-2 hours walking me through my runs. He told me what to look at and what to ignore. What the numbers meant. A modest number of new math channels (not as easy to set up as they should be). What frequencies to collect various sensor's data at (accelerometers - whatever the machine will do. Coolant temps - eh). As a result of 2-3 such sessions - not cheap - and lots of experience I have become a high-end data geek myself. No, I won't tell you who I use. My data is also classified. |

If you still need the data, I can have a look if I can find some Motec files from Porsche Cup. PM me where to send them.
