Be interesting to see if clubs use them

Surely it will be the individual Clerks that will decide whether they will use them or ignore them? It's only 2 corners at Brands anyway - anything else will probably be "not seen" or "not possible"

Why not just get rid of all this concrete and AstroTurf at the edge of the track? That would stop drivers going off the track every lap.

It's very frustrating for a Post chief when you keep phoning them in and nothing happens

When the cost of stopping people running onto the grass exceeds the cost of relaying the grass, isn't it time to rethink the entire, stupid rule?
Also, is there any provision in the Blue Book for using this sort of equipment? Do we have any volunteers to go to the MSA Tribuneral, when this goes to appeal? |

While I acknowledge a certain amount of difficulty in ensuring accuracy and consistency of reports, I'm not sure how insisting racing drivers stick to the track that's provided for them is a 'stupid rule'. You have to enforce a limit somewhere else everyone will simply cut or extend corners - and not just where the run-off is tarmac. Since you have to eventually have a limit, then the defined edges may as well be it.

It all worked very well at Donington last weekend. Drivers perhaps "Tested The Water" but quickly realised they would be penalised if they carried on running wide. There were a good few warning flags given, but it was enough to make them drive within the limits of the track afterwards.
Iirc there was just one 5-sec penalty awarded all weekend which is pretty good for an entry list of over 300 cars |

As Mark said, a penalty was placed on one competitor at Donington; two laps later said driver stuck the car in the wall opposite the Old Hairpin.
So I suppose you could say that the penalty was without any effect in the end! |

It works.
There's a sensor at the bottom of paddock hill too. Never seen touring car drivers drive so well within the track limits as now defined. Lets see how race day goes now. |

Yes those guys are fairly competent drivers. If you tell them where they have to stick it that's pretty much where they'll stick it .

And now sensors have been installed at Oulton (Lodge anyway).
