Next Question? Changing punctured tyres between Q and R
Ok, sorry 'bout the questions, but I just want to clear some things up.
What happens if a driver has a puncture during their q run and needs to change a tyre before the race? Is there a penalty? |

They can change them (and I quote)
"If one or more tyres are damaged, and are deemed unusable by the FIA Technical Delegate, they may be replaced by other tyres which have been used for a greater number of laps than the damaged ones." That raises another question... What happens if one driver does NOT have another set of tyres, more used than this one... |

So there is no penalty what so ever (apart from the fact of running on "old" tyres)?

I wonder why Max didn't show up at the Thursday press conference...
Hoffy: no, no penalty. Last edited by Red; 8 Mar 2003 at 12:32. |

OK, thanks for answering the questions.
But I do have one more. (jeez, I need to keep more up to date dont I!!!) Are they opening the pit lane (ie, they can come in and out as much as they like) before the race, as per previous years? Last edited by hoffy; 8 Mar 2003 at 12:36. |

Don't worry Hoffy, everyone (Maximillian Rufus Mosley included) has lots of unanswered questions...
Yes, the pit-lane will be opened 30 minutes before the race. (was it 45 minutes last year? I don't remember) They can drive whatever laps they wish, but it is a bit superfluous since all of them will be saving fuel. Much the same situation like Sunday-warm-up cancelation. |
