Thruxton Trucks in August

Just had the paperwork thru for this meeting.
On paper it seems to be a good meeting.
Plenty of Truck sessions but with pick ups,
750 mc Stock Hatches,MGOC`s & Austin Healeys.

So who else is going, the numbers for this meeting are looking good.

Just 1 question,if anyone could help me with.
This is a Nat B meeting, but international trucks are racing.
Shouldn`t it be an international permit ?

I think (and await correction) that a National Permit is sufficient as the event is a non championship race organised by the BARC/BTRA. Therefore, despite the title, it isn't an International event in the same way that a round of the FIA European Trucks would be. As a result a National Permit, with NEAFP accreditation seems logical.

Sign on,if you look at the map with your paperwork,Building 4.
Sign on in the same building, but just follow the hoards of orange.
Food, you can eat on site, but we normally pop up to andover for a chinese, costs approx £13 for 2 meals.

Are you camping Fri night ?

Cheers Kipper.

Awesome programme!

Stock Hatches slipstreaming round the back of the circuit then bomb-bursting into the chicane! I am glad I have got a track pass for this one! All the best Stuart.

happy to assist with a map Peter
Thruxton is still a work in progress by the team, so all the marshal's posts have not been sorted yet...

I shall be there, but in a different capacity, turning spanners on the #24 pick-up.

(that'll teach me to check my calendar properly before agreeing to these things )

Thanks Norbert.

Dont think that anyone the the stock hatch races know what what they are letting them selfs in for!

I do hold one advantage - I know the circuit beter than any of the drivers!!
Even though I've never raced there.

I don't think many (if any!) of the Stock Hatch drivers will have raced here. That is what is giving me cause for concern!

I am guessing that the timetable in with the Final Instructions is incorrect as it has the Stock Hatch Final taking place before the Heat?

At a guess i would say the timetable is correct.
When stock hatches do their quali, there are 2 groups.
So the fastest 38 do the Final & get championship points.
And the slowest 38 (race 10) is only a heat so they have their equal amount of track time & no championship points are awarded.

The normal procedure is for the slowest 38 to race in the Heat and the rest go straight through to the Final. The the first ?? finishers in the Heat make up the rest of the grid for the Final.

It may be different this time!

Max grid of 38.
So either they take the fastest 38 overall from the 2 groups
OR
They take the fastest 19 from each group to make up the Championship final.

I think they are classing the slowest 38 as a heat as they don`t have to award championship points..
OR
someone on here from who is racing in the Stock Hatches might have that information and prove us all wrong.....

Basically, the results of the two qualifying sessions are combined to form an overall classification of all the entrants. From this the slowest 38 drivers (regardless of which qualifying sessions they were in) are entered in the the Heat. The remainder are automatically placed in the Final with grid positions based on their qualifying times. Therefore, the driver with the quickest time out of every driver (again regardless of which session the lap was set in) will be on pole, etc. This grid is topped upto 38 by the top finishers in the Heat. Their grid positions are based on their results in the Heat, so the winner of the heat will start just behind the last of the automatic qualifiers and so on. This race is then run and the results of it are used to allocate championship points. As a result of this system, it means that the bulk of the entrants get two races.

I was going on the timetable on the BARC website, which has the more logical (if perhaps inaccurate) arrangement of having the heat first followed by the final.

I know what your saying.

I rang Barc today to ask them about it.

Becci confermed that the paperwork that you got with the tickets is correct.

Feel sorry though for everyone on the first corner when stock hatch come wondering around past post 3!!
