Road America 2020
Race weekend upon us for Road America. I think this is the first 2020 IMSA race weekend to run on it's original scheduled date since Daytona.
A lot of people feel this is the premier American track, although if I'm honest it didn't seem that great to me. Teams setting up garage flooring on grass isn't exactly premier. Though the trip ruined cheese curds anywhere not in Wisconsin for me. Anywaayyy. This is traditionally a weekend where major Series changes are announced. I'm curious to see if there are any additional 2020 schedule changes to be announced. Not quite announcement related, but this is where the C8r first broke cover two years ago. It's been a terrible experiment and blotch on the Corvette's record. C9 is already in development as a return to front engine. BOP adjustments peg some people back, give others moar things. Air things, weight things, fuel things, etc. Schedule Entry List Weather - Racecast appears to not been updated since mid-July for Cadillac Grand Prix at Sebring. Tomorrow should be dry for support races and IMSA qualifying. 50% chance of rain Sunday afternoon. Could rain, but also maybe could not. That's how 50% works. But not how weather works. I don't know how that works. Timing |

And another plus for this race is the event will be live on regular NBC.
Rain would certainly spice things up, otherwise i think Mazda wins it. Or maybe Acura finally figures out how not to break. |

Smooth tracks helps as well. They were fast a bit at Sebring but everyone else got faster and they didn't. And then broke.

I don't know anything about this Aaron Telitz guy, but he looks like a solid driver. We have seen in the past that the GTD title often comes down to the quality of the "silver" driver. Looks like he has the tools this year.

He came up through the support series, possibly road to Indy when Mazda was the sponsor.

I am finally able to watch live today with RLM, i mean IMSA radio, on the commentary!
Early on Acura looks like they have the extra power, and Cadillac seems nowhere in sight. |

Looks like for the most part the mazdas are able to keep up with Cameron in the second Acura.

Welp Cameron just f'd that up, chopped over on the Mazda and ends up paying the price on his own car.
Pretty poor driving by Cameron there, He tried to swipe at him again after already having the issue. |

Great racing between the Acura and Mazdas at the front.
The Caddy bunch isn't that far behind now either. 13 and 15 seconds for the 10 and 31. |

Oh and Helio is driving his tail off trying to keep the Mazdas behind. And it looks like Ticknell isn't trying to force his way passed

It does feel Tincknell is managing things right now. An all green race may require some creative thinking on fuel stints.
The lighting is looking darker for mid afternoon. The 55 through turn five has a certain daylight thunderstorm look to it. |
