Button and DR meeting on Sunday!!!!
F.Y.I
according to autosport.com, meeting between mutton and BAR is going to happen on SUNDAY (8th aug) I expect fireworks for sure lolz and expect a press statement from B.A.R or Buttons mangement company, explining further his contract position and his future for the rest of the season. Can we stop calling Jenson Button "mutton"?
It's childish and pathetic. On topic, the meeting will be interesting yes. There's no chance of stopping Jenson going to Williams, I believe, the talks will merely establish what happens from Hungary onwards, and whether BAR have any contractural call on JB for next year which needs compensated. |

well question is and i think Jensons mangement team will ask for Jenson to be released after the last race of the season, so he can start testing early with Williams. However, i don't think BAR will release Jenson early as i am sure it runs to end of 2004 so jenson can only test from Jan 2005 onwards. Does anyone know if Webber is going to be released early?
I be surprised if no press statement is released today/tommrow morning Last edited by mstar; 8 Aug 2004 at 10:46. |

It's wonderful that it is now all cleared up.
Here's to a successful end of season with BAR and a championship challenge next year with Williams! |

Hold up here....Autosport still has David Richards quoted as
"Richards insists that Button will not join Williams and has claimed that the Briton's contract with BAR for 2005 is currently with the Contracts Recognition Board (CRB) in Switzerland, who have told Richards that BAR's contract with Button is valid." Last edited by Sato san; 8 Aug 2004 at 19:45. |

What a load...
I say drop Jens now and put Ant. in the car. If he fails to perform then replace him with someone of more experience next year. |

So Jenson says its all sorted.Until we here it from DR Im doubtful.
mstar Webber is free to move to Williams the day after the last race with Jaguars blessing. On that note maybe Jenson should take some leasons from Webber on that as he told the Jaguar team the day before he told the world thats why jag are happy for him to go the day after the last event. Aparently there has been some tension due to a verbal performance bonus that has not been paid, hence one possible reason of many to find an exit clause in order to move to Williams?
But I agree, it will drag on and someone will end up getting muddy. |

Is it really verbal though? Grandprix.com talks about it Here
There is obviously more to this than meets the eye.... ... and if its true that BAR owes and didnt pay, then its their bad luck that the star driver walked... [sarcasm]Is there a rule before people can join motorsport that they have to forget to pay people when they are due to be paid?????[/sarcasm] |

grumpy:
webbers move was under diffirent circumstances, you cannot compare the two driver moves like you have done. But i really don't see what Jenson has done wrong. williams and bar were notified and BAR went to the press to cry, williams was forced to make it public late on thursday last week. Nobody said anything when Shumi left jordon or when a team sacks a driver who has a contract. |

Here is a similar report from www.f1live.com
""Jenson Button runs the risk of losing his Superlicense if he's in breach of contract, Formula One's impresario Bernie Ecclestone warned Sunday. If anyone is at fault, the 73-year-old head of Formula One Management said, it is Button's management 'Essentially Sport' and ramifications would be serious. Bernie said F1's Contracts Board in Geneva will examine the issue. Ecclestone told Sunday's Daily Star "[They will] decide what is right and what is wrong. He could lose his license and that would mean he can not drive.""" It seems crazy to me. If Button wasn't performing BAR would drop him wouldn't they?! It seems the rules of engagement change when its vice versa. We don't hear of teams losing a slot on the grid when they drop drivers. Has F1 gone mad?! Can anyone honestly see Bernie taking the licence off a driver who has created so much interest in the sport internationally, and even more importantly - nationally, its is the world's most F1 mad country - and he is taking away the interest for it.
So very unlikely. |
