Live timing and Plans for Indy
I unfortunately dont have my comp in the living room and since ive booked the monday off work I will stay up all night watching the Indy 500 (race race starts around 1am here in Oz) but I was thinking of dragging my comp into the living room for the night and log on and see some live timing or even have a chat session during the race.
so does anyone know if there is live timing of the 500 on the net and how can I get access to this. and while im at it what are your plans for the 500??? as I said I take the next day off work and usually try and do the Indy 500 and the nascar race double allthough ive so far been unsuccessfull at getting through both before falling asleep but this year Im gonna try it again so what are your plans for this years running of the 500 ???? |

marcus, indyracing.com should have live timing. As for my plans for Indy, well once I have opened my birthday presents I'll settle down in front of the TV and enjoy

I'll be doing an all-nighter for the 500 as usual. Being a student means that whether i'm with it completely or not on the monday doesn't really matter.
Hoon - I'm not happy about the NASCAR delay either. The worst bit is for a channel that brags about all it's live sport, neither of the sports on at the time of the 600 (if it were shown live) are on live Just 20 minutes till Indy 500 qualifying starts on ESPN |

yea this is Foxsports email
Dear #######: Thank you for taking the time to write to us. FOX SPORTS have LIVE Australia v West Indies Cricket on until 7:30am which will probably run until 8:00am. FOX SPORTS have a commitment to the NRL to replay all the weekend games on the Monday before the LIVE French Open tennis begins at 7:00pm. The slot where the World Moto GP replay is, unfortunately is not long enough to fit the whole Nascar race and do not leave us enough time to edit the race down. FOX SPORTS prefer to edit out the commercial breaks and show the race in full later in the day. FOX SPORTS have LIVE USPGA commitments on the other channel and a daytime replay of the Windies Cricket, which management, unfortunately for you, give preference to over Nascar. FOX SPORTS do apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment caused. Kind regards FOX SPORTS Marketing |

I live in Indy....I'll be there...like I hve been every year since A.J.'s third win in 1967....
But I was a kid then..... Turn Three seats... If any of you ever get the chance to come, I can give you GREAT advice on lots of things...Tix to Buy....tix to AVOID...How to do the Infield THE BEST WAY if you go General Admission (the way I went for years...had it down to a science!) May is my favorite time of year here....an experience not to be missed.... |

Hello Tiim Northcutt,
I will be at the Paddock Boxes, a little before the start/finish line. Row 17, quite low - but hey, I am not going to argue with my father-in-law about what are the best seats in the house... Cheers, Muzza |

I've sat in the Paddock twice...good seats if you are near the front end of the pits closer to the pylon than to the back of the field....sat in that area in 1999....Greg Ray's tangle with a Kelly Racing car that put him out of the race happened right in front of me....Robby Gordon coasted in for the splash at the end of the race near me, too...took the starter right out of the crewman's hands once he recranked the car...it bounced along behind him about 50 yards down pit road as Gordon flew back out on the track...
A rule of thumb for anyone out of town.... Unless you're in the Paddock or Tower Terrace, buy seats that are on the outside of the track.... When you look at rows, try to avoid anything that is not a "double letter" row, especially if you are in the turns and it it "critical" if you can only get a seat in a short chute...the higher wall heights to handle NASCAR make it difficult to see the cars if you are in a single letter row in the short chute.....the double letters are higher up, and you can see much better....mine this year are row "KK" in Turn Three, and I will be able to see all of turn two, the backstretch, turn three, the north short chute and most of turn four... Try for the "Vistas" on the outsides if you can in the corners (face value $75), usually good seats unless you're down low... I'll share more if you're interested in the coming days... |

Marcus - The best place is the official Indy 500 site: http://www.indy500.com/ Scroll down to "Indianapolis 500 Updates"
(about 1/3 of the way down). Start off by cliacking on "radio Schedule", then down to the bottom of the list to listen to the official live broadcast (ALWAYS excellent). You'll also find timing and scoring. Get there early and there's a bunch of archived material (too much at this stage of the game....) Enjoy...I suggest whatever TV coverage you get with the radio audio...I know the video and audio won't match, but you can always bump the tv volume up when necessary. I'm serious about the radio broadcast....they are always very good. I'll be here unless you guys have set up a chat somewhere...let me know please. |

I'm here...it's nearly 9:00 a.m here (East coast of U.S. and the pre-race show starts in 2 hours (11:00 my time, Fort Lauderdale, Florida; 10:00 in Indianapolis). The radio coverage starts then along with our tv coverage.
Lemme' know if you have trouble finding the T&S and radio broadcast. Last edited by jimclark; 25 May 2003 at 12:57. |

Eurosport are showing the race later this evening, so after lurking here for a while, I guess it's time to leave this forum... don't want to find out anything in advance. Have fun guys!
