Correct me if I'm wrong but I can't find a GT ASIA 2016 thread.


2016 GT Asia Series - calendar
TEST DAYS, 9-10 May - Korea International Circuit (South Korea)

Rnd#3/#4, 10-12 June - Buriram International Circuit (Thailand)

Very little in terms of entry list yet, Aston stalwarts Craft Bamboo just confirmed switch to the new Porsche 911 GT3R

Likely:

- 2-3x McLaren 650 S GT3's for FFF Racing by ACM
- 1-2x cars for Clearwater, strong Ferrari partner but favoured McLaren 650s in recent ASLMs racing.
- 2-3x Ferraris for Singha Motorsports (1 488 GT3 and a couple Ferrari Challenge cars)
- 2x Porsches for Gulf Racing Japan (maybe new model?)
- 1x Ferrari 488 GT3 for BBT

Entry List released for first race in Korea, 17 cars, not a huge grid but great quality throughout, and another 5-6 cars expected for race 2-3

George Richardson is in the Porsche of GruppeM

And Duncan Tappy is in for the still hospitalised Andrew Palmer at Bentley


Miedecke Stone Motorsport will be joining at the next round with George Miedecke and Tekno's Nathan Morcom

Pretty impressive slam dunk in favour of GT Asia today with a bunch of their big teams announcing their loyalty to GT Asia over the new SRO GT Cup. interested to see what the SRO GT Cup can find in terms of support. SRO would need to find some big names in a hurry, and a lot of new teams.

Secondly, the dailysportscar article on the same topic gives a good indication of the potential grid for next year, which would match the current grid for numbers based of the mentioned entries alone.

Without even mention of teams like BBT, Gruppe M, and Singha how didnt make a statement as part of that release. And lets not forget the current GT Cup cars will be joined potentially by GT4 cars, and there is also a AM Class added to GT3 for next year.

Pretty much game on for 2017, I think it gives GT Asia a better grid great, Im not sure how the SRO GT Cup will fare, but hey if a second series can survive alongside GT Asia, we get more racing to watch, so why not!
