Qualifying
What would you guys think if the V8's were to adopt the current f1 style of qualifying. Everyone was given one lap to qualify and they would have to start as they qualified. Could add one more dimension to the races, especially the long races.
What do you think?? |

They've pretty much got that right now with the top 10 and 15 shootouts, and the Up the Creek 400 is having a 35 car shootout at the end of the year.
I don't agree with these one lap qualifying sessions. They are just an attempt to shake up the grid to create some racing that wouldn't happen under normal circumstances..ie..artificial. We should go back to proper qualifying, a half hour session or so with drivers given more than just one chance. I liked the Top 10 at Bathurst, because it was special and something different, now it is too common it's just pointless. |

The race is supposed to be the show!
Qualifying should not become some kind of circus! |

I don't really think that fuel is that big of a variable in V8's. You never see a two or three fuel stop strategy in a V8 race (thank goodness).
I don't mind the Top 10 idea, but I was no too keen on the Top 15 idea though. I think the risk of going from 1st to 15th is a little harsh. I think judging by Adelaide, we should leave the racing to the track without artificially trying to mess with it. The racing on track there was great without any dumb additions. |

Not really a "spectacle" at any circuit other than Bathurst because the stakes are so high at that circuit. Adelaide has walls etc but no matter what anyone says, Bathurst brings out the ape in every driver.
