The Pacific GP?

i heard that the fuji circuit may be used in a late season race in 06, as toyota own this, this could be a step closer to bernie having toyota in his concorde thingy.

Yeah, back then it actually was a racing circuit, but now that Tilke got his grubby little hands on it its more like pure **** IMO...

I suspect Racer_kyle remembers Aida on Geoff Crammond's game.

IIRC, this popped up (alledged Toyota) and then Bernie shot it down, at least for 2006 (as reported/critiqued/editorialised) by the folks at grandprix.com.

I believe that Suzuka only has one year left on its contract.

If they used the original layout then I would have welcomed a second Japanese race and it would be cool. Just a shame there is to many Tilke circuits.

The Pacific Grand Prix was the event name, not the circuit name, and the track at Aida is no relation to the one at Fuji. Moving a circuit across Japan piece by piece is probably beyond Tilke's abilities.

Honda and Toyota both owning top racing tracks in Japan is an unfortuante political element. In addition to Suzuka, I would welcome Fuji, but I'd hate to see one of the few remaining classic tracks replaced.

The new Fuji? Isn't that another of those featureless Tilke-rings?

Leave it at Suzuka.

What I heard was that Suzuka would host the Pacific Grand Prix and Fuji host the Japanese Grand Prix. This was back in the spring I think......

Having had a look at various images of the "new" Fuji, I'm nowhere near as horrified as some here seem to be.

The old layout was unsuitable for modern racing, and the reworking of it has captured the essence of the original

The Japanese GP contract is up for renegotation soon and I wouldn't be surprised if the announcement of who gets it is preceded by either Toyota or Honda signing the new Concorde Agreement.

Interesting.. the only part i can fault is that infield section just before the last turn.

If it just went straight to the final corner.. id like it !

1.5 mile straight, put's China's 1 kilometer (0.625 of a mile) into perspective.

Think it's actually 1.5km - kilometers, not miles. Does still make for a straight 50% longer than that in China, which is still some considerable distance.

As is designing a decent track it seems!

The new Fuji is absolutely horrendous. There is a game, Gran Turismo 4, which has the old layout and the new layout. My judgement is that the old Fuji was fun, fast and fantastic. The three F's if you will.

The new track is an absolute abomination. It hasn't even attempted to keep the flavour of the old circuit alive, apart from one small section. Even then, it has swathes of tarmac run-off, which ruins the effect.

Nope, it is awful. A great race track turned into a car-park challenge.

I hope they stay away from Fuji. It's a horrible race track.

They need to get rid of the idea of a Pacific GP (and drop the European GP also). The rules were suppose to be 1 race per country. They need to go back to that plan.

Uhn... it's not very different from the original, only the last section had changed significantly, I think.

i have played it in gt4 in the f1 car and i love it! it has lots of dips and rises (like the original) , its fast in places, the only problem is that last section. hopefully they will use the gt layout.
