Excellent site for all thos involved, many thanks, adss greatly to the professionalism of the sport and the series and also gives the drivers something to aim for in terms of media coverage, especially of they can get hold of footage on a pay basis!

The site is very nice build.
For now it's free, later we have to pay for it.
I don't pay to look at a website!

"I don't pay to look at a website!"
The main problem of the whole www sponger era...!
And the could-become problem for ERC24.
Easy come - easy go...?

Hmmm... but the problem is that the main point of a website is to promote the sport to casual fans and get them more interested. Its main role is to advertise the ERC. Would you pay to watch an advertisement? Cracking site though!

See it this way: ERC24 is a commercial website, not a fan, drivers or organisers project. Some journalists/photographers are travelling to 11 European venues to inform anyone interested about the ERC. If no sponsors, organisers or drivers are paying for that service it's eventually the RX enthusiast who has to subscribe to the site, like to a printed mag. Would you expect to get advertisement stuffed AUTOSPORT for free in your postbox...?

Sure, I've no problem with anyone setting up a commercial site rx-guru - good luck to them! It's just that this should be being done and run by the ERC organisers as a promotional service FOR their sponsors, drivers and fans. Not only do the ERC organisers not have a proper TV deal, they don't even have a proper promotional website so in the end someone else has to do it...

You have to pay for wrc.com, so it really isn't that strange. But of course Rallycross isn't the same as the WRC...

PS. rx-guru, on the erc24 website, article number 93 - last photo. Aren't those your photos in the background from one of the yearbook-covers?

Yep - it's the cover of the 1989 yearbook, alterated to a poster for the first ever Lousada ECR (1991). And bloody CAL has never payed any copyright fee...!

Just a thopught but we don't have to pay for www.formula1.com so why pay for this one?

It is a nice website though.

I can answer that

Formula1.com is run and maintained by Formula One Administration Ltd. A Formula One Group Company. The formula one group company makes alot of money for advertising and sets aside money for promotional items (posters, websites blarg blarg blarg.....), they also have lucrative promotion and technical deals with the crowd who show it on tv, do the timing and the teams.

Which enables them to piggyback all this onto the website nice one!

WRC is the same sort of setup although its not as big a revenue generator so the WRC.com website (fully of flat features) needs to generate its own revenues for all the services is supplies.

erc24.com on the other hand dosnt have all these mad technical features, it can be run very cheaply; your domain name can be around $10 or less per year, web hosting for this site probably in the areas of $350 per year ? All this can be paid for out of someones own back pocket really, like myne or any other rallycross website.

I would not mind pay for the site IF:
We could download some video footage (of about 15 min or so) after each race... That is something the rallycross organisation / organisers (not ERC24) should be looking at... Because now I can see nothing...

Couldn't the website be a tax write-off as a promotional tool?

I wouldn't judging by what I have seen of the free content. And don't know anybody that does!
