British GT Testing today at Donington - pics

Hi there,

I managed to get to Donington Park this morning for an hour to watch the British GT test. The Lotus Sport Cadena Race Team will make their British GT race debut on Sunday with three Lotus Exige GT3's. Barwell will also make their debut with three new Aston Martin DBRS9's.

It was the first chance for me to take my new Olympus E-500 to a race circuit and I am quite please with the results so far.

Heres some of my pics: -

It also looks like the Scuderia Ecosse team may be running a new livery on their Ferrari F430 for the next round of the FIA GT championship.

Regards

Tim

It looks like a decentish day for photos.

Was the cement dust line around for long?

(I've done a little move and move back to leave a re-direct in Sportscar)

Adam,

Many thanks for the move and move back.
The cement dust was on track for the whole of the morning, a car in the Formula Ford/Caterham test session dropped oil in the first session. The oil trail started half way down the craner curves and went on for about half the track. Made it hard to photograph with all the dust about.
It rained at about 11.00am so the cement dust was probably washed away.

Regards

Tim

Hi there,

No pics of the Monaro, not sure if it was there today.
Alot of the smaller teams were not there as the race is not actually until Sunday and todays test would have cost them extra.

Yes you're right the Scottish flag is part of their new design.

Heres another picture.

Poor Ferrari..

But nice pictures.. and as for the dust, ya got that built in camera vibrator thingumyjig haven't you?

Be interesting to see how well that works in practice.. or whether it doubles up as an insect repellor.

We got the car out for a few laps in the afternoon, just as a shakedown really after having had some work done. We're hoping for a good run on sunday, we were encouraged by the 9th place finish at Oulton and things look on the up for us.

I was hoping to get down to Donnington on Sunday, but the weather report looks horrible. A huge low pressure area bring high winds and rain in from the south west.

I've driven around donnington before many years ago, but have never been to watch a race. Where would be the best place to get some shots off weather permitting? or is it best to jsut wander around the circuit looking for opurtunity?

Regards
Dave

Great photos Tim, I saw you there snapping away.

The Monaro looked great, however I didn't get to see it running, but good luck to you all for Sunday LC2guy.

Do any of you know what that LMP-type car running on Thursday was? I couldn't quite work it out.

Great pictures.

I'm going on Sunday and am really looking forward to seeing the Exige GT3s, I've heard the weather could be pretty miserable though...
not to worry, I think the number/variety of cars entered is excellent.

I think Ecosse Ferrari looks quite good!

Alex,

We should meet up next time, its good to have some company on a long walk round Donington.

Heres a pic of the car you are refering to: -

Sorry not one of my better pics.

According to the EERC site it races in the Britsports class and is a Prosport LM3000 driven by Michael Christopher and Ian Flux.

Did you also see the old Aston Martin out on the track at the same time as the British GT's.
