Woohoo! The Subies are in the hunt!
Daniel might want to sit this round out next year... Poor guy. Loeb in the top ten on gravel? Damn, this guy is gonna win the title before long, mark my words! |

Woo, that's bad news about Grataloup! Sounds to me like co-driver is the most dangerous job in racing.
What happened to Burns? Nice to see McRae is doing so well without Nicky. The renewed marriage of Colin McRae and Derek Ringer has got off to a steady, if unspectacular start. Ringer put his hand up to accept responsibility for an overshoot on today's second stage and McRae admitted that they still need a bit longer before they get their act together again. Richard lost his clutch out on stage, and was unable to limp the 206 back into service.

Get their seats the hell off the floor! Stupid FIA... They'll wait until someone gets killed, then totally over-react. Like they always do.

SS19: Grönholm is till on top of the world. Maybe rallying is getting boring, quick let's have some rule changes!
Solberg. I can't wait to see him win... And it's nice to see Sainz up there. Not long till the Lombard... |

The RACis not really the RAC anymore though is it? Jack Kelmsley is dead and he must be spinning in his grave aboutthe silly short rally of wales that it has now become.

Good to see Sainz doing well. And I have to admit I'm not sad to know McCrash is out of the hunt again.
I'm looking forward to a real race between Solberg and Sainz for 2nd place. And in Rally anything can happen and if Marcus hits a rock, either could win. That's the difference betwen WWF-1 and Rally. There are no rocks in WWF-1. |

I don't like the WRC rules... Too damn much like WWF-1 with tintops and AWD. I liked Group A much better. Besides, we all know what happened last time rally cars got this fast... And you just know the FIA is going to ruin the sport if someone gets killed. Oh well... Just my $0.02... Doesn't mean I don't enjoy what we've got now! (unlike WWF-1, which I can't stay awake through!) |

Y'know, looking at the overall standings, you really start to realize just what a horrible car the Lancer WRC is.
Jani Paasonen is only 3 minutes, 11 seconds ahead of the top Group N competitor, Manfred Stohl, in a Lancer Evo VI. If the car is that good in Group N trim, wouldn't it be reasonable to think that the Group A version, if it was still being developed, would be a much fiercer competitor than the Lancer WRC? Remember, it was still challenging for wins when Mitsubishi retired it, a move that's quite clearly linked with Tommi's move to Subaru. |

That car has been a few mph faster than a brick since it was created; Makinen was (for him) quite emphatic about that last season.
Something needs to be done about it soon. |

And group N championship is now probably going for Karamjit Singh with a Proton. Actually, have there ever been any other group N world cup or championship going outside Mitsubishi squad since Alain Oreille and Renault 5?
(O.K., Singhs Proton looks just like a Lancer Evo 6, but still, it is a Proton.) |

Tommi Makinen has been excluded from the Rally of Australia after the stewards found his Subaru underweight.

Stohl takes Group N! Woohoo!
Suck on that Proton! What the hell is wrong with them? Cripes, all they did was slap their badge on a Lancer Evo! Hello??? Sucks about Tommi's exclusion... The Subies are getting back to being competitive, though. Maybe at Monte Carlo next year... Last edited by Lee Janotta; 3 Nov 2002 at 15:46. |

Did anyone see Delecour's engine after the crash? It was about 10 metres away on the other side of the road, that was a big one.

I noticed that -- figured he had turned up a big rock on the way to the tree. I was quite relieved to hear that Grataloup was flirting with the nurses -- guess he's feeling all right, considering.
Nicky said in the commentary that Tommi has never recovered mentally from the big crash in Corsica and that he's just driving out the season this year. I'm not exactly surprised to hear that, as it seems clear that Risto was injured more seriously than previously admitted and that has got to play on his mind. |
