Phillip Island to host China round?
People I only caught part of this on C10 last night so I I will put what I heard out and hopefully someone else will fill in the gaps.
There was a meeting at PI yesterday and the China experiment was on the table and from what I can gather from what I saw was that China was off this year and PI will host the round this year. They interveiwed Russel Ingal who stated it was a logistical nightmare to go to China and in his opinion the teams would rather race at PI.He also stated his displeasure at not racing at the 2nd fastest track in Aus. The new owner (Mr Fox) has spent plenty of dollars upgradeing the track and ammenities and his manager(of the track)droped the hint that PI was on again this year. As I said I only caught part of the report so if anyone can fill in the gaps please do The Grumpy1 |

Let's hope they do indeed go to P.I. To not have the V8's visit this track was ludicrous IMO.

I totally agree Alan, all this Drama with China seems a bit much to me.
If you did a poll of V8 Drivers & fans, I'm sure the majority would prefer to go to PI. Well obviously the fans would as how many from AUS would fly to China just to watch the V8's. When they can go to 11 rounds in their own country. (Just my opinion) |

Does this mean we'll have to wear those funny cone hats and sandals?

The China round was always a concept with large risk and questionable benefits. A return to Phillip Island has been on the cards for a long time.

I'd rather see the v8's go to long beach next year to run with champcar rather than china. That's my opinion anyways.

Perhaps TC could go to China while the cars go to PI?

That is just rude!
Look at what TC has given us all and this is how you treat him. Hang your heads, guys and stop being tall poppies. |

As would Silverstone Or Sepang Or Spa Or Monza Or Nurburgring Or Bahrain
You would be amazed at how many people asked me today whether the China round had been cancelled, replaced with a Bahraini event..... There are certain members of the CAMS fraternity that believe this 100% Well till TC announces where they are really going at 10am tomorrow.... |

Remember how good it was going to be going to China?
Hopefully sanity will prevail and PI will prevail. Calling something the second best in anything is usually detrimental but when the best circuit is Mt Panorama, second ain't too bad after all. |

Where are all those rowdy tassie Devils's.It's overseas,a unique culture.
Strange that of all the "options" 3/4 already host a round. |

Back to the ISLAND!! There's as much chance of TC admitting China was a bad move as TC putting up money for the Mountain. Mtpanorama is right the cars are too equal now it use to be so lopsided to Holden now the racing is so predictable. But we who love racing as a "SPORT" and not entertainment get looked at like idiots these days.
