Not 100% sure about who is competing there, but if you could watch the Formula Vee race and give your thoughts on it that would be greatly appreciated.

I still firmly believe a 1.3L rotary should be in the under 2L (although they're perfectly capable of winning in over 2L) |

Both Formula Vee and HQ's in Victoria have stellar fields and make up the top 3, are the fields in NSW smaller? Because we've had some NSW competitors come down to Vic to compete, likewise SA.

The vee fields a fairly big grid, it just that them or the formula ford race is on they cant seem to stop crashing into each other. I am sure they have a competition going amongst them as to who can cause the most red flags and waste other catagories race time.

However, It would be a good fight for the wooden spoon between the Clubmans (or is it Clubmen?) Sport Sedans and FVees for Mine! I was as dissapointed with the ammount of accidents in the FFords, but it has the potential to be a better thing than recent years have shown in NSW, We can hope! Numbers in S Sedans have been very poor in recent years, Clubmans and Vees dont impress me that much, just my thoughts. I heard today there will be qualifying and two races for the Over 2L Improved Proddies on Saturday, then another on Sunday afternoon. Looks like Saturday night may be a big one in Goulburn Quote:

Numbers in Clubman and HQ's has been steadily dwindling over the last 2 or so seasons - HQ's of course have had the 'in fighting' with Kingswoods (or should that be CAMS have caused the fight?). Clubman seem to be on a roller coaster entry ride - numebrs start to increase but then suddenly dip.
Formula Vee have had good numbers particularly since the introduction of the 1600cc engine - not sure how many in NSW are still running the older, smaller engine - but the joint class structure provided some interesting racing last year and virtually always guaranteed a full or near full field at every meeting they were entered for. Sports cars - like Clubman's, has also been on a bit of a roller coaster. Maybe they have been spreading themselves too thin in recent years IOW too much racing for drivers without big buck budgets. Given they have also been active in other non-NSW title meetings, maybe they have spread themselves a bit too much and the result is thinner fields where it should matter for them. On the other side of the coin, though, these cars have also 'promised themselves' at a number of race meetings and then failed to produce 'the goods' in terms of entry numbers - so possibly the attraction for the cars is starting to wear off (or become too rich given a few 'major sausages' over recent seasons?) |

What i dont understand is why let HQ's run in Kingswood and not vice versa, when even the drivers admit there is almost no difference in performance.
Even at my young age, polotics has ruined a lot of categories. Shame. |

Storytime-- pity you are not missing more often-- you are having a go at Sportscar numbers in NSW this time -- it is the same discusion that took place re Victorian Sportscars. The numbers may have fallen a little from the high point but average numbers are still well into the 20's with grids over 30 still around. I keep saying it- Sportscar numbers will go up and down as there are a large number of other races that cars can compete in so numbers will fluctuate. No evidence of falling as you state. So please stop trotting that out everytime you you are trying to make some point.

Sorry John - go and look at the numbers - for simplicity (something I am sure you will understand) let's take the number of cars Qualifying at each round.
For consistency, I picked Oran Park - fo no particular reason other than it is run by NSWRRC so you have some continuity of organiser and therefore, hopefully, everyone is happy with the way things run. So - 1999 and 2000 - no Production Sports Cars at all. 2001 - 28 qualified 2002 - 22 2003 - 25 2004 - 21 2005 - 25 So from their initial base year of 2001 we have a decrease in numbers straight away (over exuberance on their part? Who knows?). And sure - 2003 and 2005 saw a rise to 25 cars - but this isn't a very consistent number. I pipcked a middle of the year round but go and look at overall numebrs at all meetings and you WILL see a trend. BTW - I didn;t 'deliberately' pick this category other than it is because they also run seperate events at Wakefield Park (the Hopwood Meeting for example) - thus my comment about NSW entries being 'spread thin'. But - if you want to read anything additional into this - go ahead - it never ceases to amaze me how you want to turn any comment into an attack on your beloved category. I am sure you can doctor the numbers to back you up - numbers, btw, were obtained from www.natsoft.com.au - you can always and check them yourself. |

Best of both worlds? Historics on Saturday and a leisurely Sunday drive down to Wakefield for the State Championships?
I've also got Oran Park on Friday night..... |

What happened to the days when open race meetings were not issued with permits if they were to run against each other in the same state on the same weekend? Is this happening as a result of ACCC and anti-competition legislation?
I realise one meeitng is a State Championship and one a Historic - but the officials are not that abundant. Surely it is about time some sense was brought back into motor sport in this country and tracks and organisers started talking to each other again. |

More of a problem in Victoria than here SL, but yes it is a little dissapointing, as much for the officials who love seeing them both as any competitor!

Sorry Mark, but generally the IPRA gets the biggest fields, so big that the overs & unders are split into two fields!
Combined do put on a pretty good show though. |
