Britcar 24 Hour
Apologies if this is the wrong forum for this race, but with Moslers, Porsches, Morgans, Lotus's and Marcos's all on the grid, aswell as Prosport, Harrier, Darrian and the Trident Iceni i thought it might fit best here. See here for Radio and Live timing over the coming days;
http://www.eerc.co.uk/cms/news.php This race was a great spectacle last year, and the quality of entries is well up on last year, with loads of BMW's and a couple of Ford Falcons in addition to the sportscars listed above. If anyone on this forum is planning on coming, drop me a line and we'll meet up for a beer sometime over the weekend. |

I will be working up there for Mazda Motorsport running the 3 RX-8's. Hopefully we'll win our class this year Just been up there today and found out David Leslie is going to be driving one of the cars as Harry's BMW is broken.

Call you at the weekend Bauble. Try to meet before the start.
Has anyone any idea of times from todays practice sessions ? I'm at work and can't access live timing. |

If anyone is coming along pop in for a chat (not sure what garage we are in) but look for the blue and silver Moore Racing truck. I'm driving the #76 M3 (blue with silver stripes) and we are also running a red Honda Civic (#64).
Hopefully we will still be running at 5pm on Sunday |

WOO HOO, just got back from britcar qualifying... excellent.. watched a bit of on track action from the SRC stand, then headed into the pits and loitered around the Duller motorsport garage, met DIETER QUESTER! who signed my BMW Motorsport cap for me! nice chap.
I was stunned how close you can get to the action. During one of the Z4M's pit stops I was standing within 2 feet of the car - and he came in at full tilt which was amazing... Really looking forward to the race tomorrow now. Also went down and met steve guglielmi, who is helping to run the 3 mazda RX-8's, he's a decent chap. Excellent.. it was only qually and it is already 5× better than the British GP which cost 100× more. |

Popped over to Silverstone to see they guys I know who are running the Prosport and had a chat with Steve Guglielmi.
Here are a few pics I took (a bit prosport specific) Checking the car over before night qualifying. A S2 Exige which is also taking part. One of SteveG's Mazda RX8's Dutch Supercar Cup Exiges, one furthest away is also doing the 24hrs. The Rollcentre car. The whole Mazda Team. Simon in the car about to start the 1st stint in the night qualifying session. Another pitstop, this time also adjusting the spot lights. The BMW Z4 M Coupe which was the fastest car in the night qualifying session. |

The BMW MZ4 Coupe, driven by Dieter Quester, Dirk Werner, Jamie Campbell-Walter and Tim Mullen have won the Britcar 24 hours at Silverstone. I show this particular picture which was taken during warm up yesterday morning, because it includes, on the left, the legend Dieter Quester, who at the awards ceremony, has just been awarded the Derek Bell Trophy for services to Endurance racing. This was Quester's 53rd 24 hour race!:-
This car looked and sounded stunning. A true front-engined rear wheel drive GT car. |

John, nice picture. The significance of Dieter Quester is well taken. Thanks for posting.
Any other pictures would be greatly appreciated. Opinions on the Duller Z4 M Coupe from those who saw the race would also be interesting to those of us a long way away. I've been listening and watching the live timing throughout. Very impressive from here. |

Whole event was excellent... meeting Quester at qually was the highlight for me.
The Z4M looked good, and I was well happy with the BMW 1, 2, 3 . The mist in the early hours of the morning was a bit of a pain, but at least it gave us an opportunity to get some kip. |

Below are pics of the first 3 cars in the order in which they finished; the first taken at Abbey and the other two at Luffield. The final picture, also taken at Luffield, shows an interesting group of Mazda R8, 2 Australian Ford V8s and the Eclipse Motorsport Mosler. The first of the Fords (32) in this picture carried a tribute sticker to Peter Brock down each side of the rear window. The older Ford at the back looked and sounded superb:- Last edited by John Turner; 11 Sep 2006 at 08:12. |
