As seen on the Autosport site.
"Champ Car team boss Mo Nunn confirmed that Alex Zanardi will test one of his Reynard-Mercedes cars at the Sebring road course in Florida next weekend, and may drive in the Toronto street race on July 16 if he performs well." "We're going to give him two days at Sebring," Nunn said, "and if he performs well we'll run him in Toronto. Tony [Kanaan, who is currently injured] hopes to be back in the car for Michigan, so it would just be for Toronto, but if the rest of the year goes well and we don't run into too many problems, we might run a second car for Alex at Vancouver and Laguna Seca." Yippe the champs back! Roll on Zanardi v Montoya. |

YAHOOOOOOO! GOOD NEWS!!!!!! I only hope it's not just another wild rumour like Button leaving Williams. Can't wait to see Alessandro in CART again.
P.S. Really good news about Tony if true. |

I think the real good news is the possibility of Mo Nunn running a second car. I hope they have the resources to pull it off.

The comments I heard during the race coverage seems to indicate that if Alex feels competitive in the car it's a done deal, but only if he wants it. GO ALEX!!! I'd LOVE to see him & Juan Pablo go at it!!!

Better still would be for Zanardi to turn around Mercedes Benz engine performance. Since 1998 when they designed a very small engine their results have dropped off, it would be nice if he won some races for a another team and another engine other than Honda.

More news Zan's has his firts test as shown on the Autosport site.
"I’m having a lot of fun," said Zanardi. "The passion hasn’t gone. It’s nice to find such a nice car to come back to after a period of vacation. I call it a vacation because it was my decision not to engage myself in any other thing after the Williams period." Zanardi, a former champion with Ganassi racing, was re-united with his engineer Mo Nunn, in his new team. "It’s really good to be back. I’m amazed - although the circuit today is really green and we haven’t got to the point yet where I can say I’m happy with the car the way it’s set up - by how much grip this car has in the corners compared to Formula 1 car with those grooved tires. This is a car you can play with. Maybe I went over the line already... I spun three times. I have no reason in the world that I should be pushing over the limit, but how else can you explain that I spun three times already other than that I’m having fun?" |

Per Speedvision Z will not be in the car at Toronto:
"the team made it clear that Herta will, in fact, drive in Toronto while Zanardi dismissed talk of an imminent return." |

I knew it was a long shot, but i had to admit my hopes were up. I just hope we can see him race before too long. Welcome Back Alex! I and I'm sure a lot of other people have missed your RACERS spirit!

The sooner that AZ gets in a champ car and races, the better. He certainly brought a fun attitude to CART when he won his championships.

Oh Well, for those that are coming to Toronto, he will be there anyway. So, keep an eye out for him around the Paddock.
