There would have been even more if the ONE channel on the Sunshine coast QLD hadnt gone down for the whole race.....

Was not happy....could only watch the live timing

However in recent months the number of TVs have gone down significantly. This I think can be put down to people throwing their TV through a wall when Vettel took out Webber in Turkey.

I heard that the same thing happened in Germany for the opposite reason.

On a serious note for a moment, I was surprised the other note when having a beer with some very football centred group of co workers how many of them had watched the last GP & were excited for Webber, so it's having a positive effect here.
