Why is Bruno Junqueira the forgotten man?
Each time somebody contemplates a new driver for some team in F1, lots of names come up but Bruno seems to be the forgotten man. This is thge same guy who lost out on a drive with Williams by the slimmest of margins. I watched him racing in a CART race last weekend on TV, there was a lot of on board shots from Bruno's car, and he seemed to be very smooth. I was most impressed, and he was running third for a lot of laps until a botched pit stop dropped him down to the teens from which he was unable to recover.
Naturally the most impressive driver that day was Paul Tracy. He's never mentioned either. |

I agree Valve Bounce. Like you said, he only just missed out on a drive with Williams in 2000. I don't know if it is a good move or not, going to CART, F1-wise. I mean, the only former CART drivers in F1 at the moment are Montoya, Villeneuve and Marques, I think. So his F1 chances are virtually gone.
Still, he is a great driver, I too saw him incar at Nazareth last weekend. |

I have to agree with you in this one, Bruno is indeed a good driver, better than anybody think he is. Sometimes it is just not fair, but he is starting to prove what he ie nade of in the Cart series. He won the pole at nazareth, and I think a lot of F1 teams still have him in mind for some testing roles.

it's not over for him yet. just because he's gone to cart doesn't mean he isn't going to come out of cart...

He is also racing for a certain Chip Ganassi. The same man that borrowed JPM for a couple of years from the F1 circuit. After his 2? years in CART he will be back.
I like this kind of thing. It does great things for F1 in America. If Bruno does well then he will develop a nice fan base in America and hopefully bring a bunch of those fans with him to F1. I am sure JPM has done something similar. |

I'm sure we'll see Bruno in F1 as an actual race driver and not a test driver at some point - he's too good a driver not to end up there at some point.

I'm not convinced...
With the plethora of new, young talent coming into F1, why go with the older CART drivers?? I am convinced that F3000 is where the future F1 champions are, not CART. There are of course exceptions, and in this case it is Montoya... He proved in his first year at CART that he was on too bigger and better things. He is, however, the exception, and not the rule. |

Erm, Bruno isn't "one of the older CART drivers" ... he's the F3000 champion from last year, isn't he? Anyway he's only about 22 years old, and even in racing that isn't very old.
Bruno will be in F1 within a year, as obviously Chip has decided to go with the "True Blue American" riff and keep his boys off the radar until he can sell them off. Twit that he is. |

I think he has a lot more speed than he has been able to deliver so far in CART, but I think he'll be there for a while - 2/3 years I would guess. You have to be realistic and say a top 10 finish in this years championship would be a great achievement for Bruno, or Nicolas.

If he WERE to come back to F1, who'd it be with?? My money goes on Jagaur or Williams, when one of them (inevitably) leaves in the next 2/3 years.

I think he is the forgotten man -
because only his mother can spell his name. And two out of three times she gets it wrong! Oh, plus he can't drive. |

Bruno and Nicolas both acquitted themselves very well at the Indy 500 qualifying yesterday - had they been allowed to qualify in the first group, instead of picking up leftovers from under Mr. Ganassi's table, they would have qualified 10th and 11th in a 32 car field. As it is, Bruno qualified ahead of Mikey "I Am Indianapolis" Andretti.
The boy can drive a racing car. He's already begun to prove it and he will continue to prove it. As for you, Muffy, I think Bruno's mother has a harder time spelling YOUR name. "Muffet" is about the closest she gets ... at least on the Strongly Worded Letter I saw that seemed to be addressed to you. |

not very eloquently put, but he really gets my goat. for a while i thought he might know what he's doing. but no. it is not good business sense to chop and change. you make a firm decision either way. yes, or no. i rest my case, and hope liz will take it up again, and be slightly more eloquent. |
