2018 IndyCar Series silly season

So, the big talk today is Team Penske.

o- Will Montoya or Hélio move to the IMSA program?
o- Or perhaps will both Montoya and Hélio move?
o- Will Penske reduce to 3 full-season cars?
o- Will he hire a new driver, like Hinch, Rossi or Muñoz?

Yes, see below.
Yes, both will with a ride in the Indy 500 if desired,
Most likely, he's actually had a little trouble finding sponsors for the cars now
Doubtful, Miller sounded like he expected 3 with 5 maybe 6 at Indy.

They were meaning that he would have to find a drive elsewhere if he wanted to stay in Indycar full time. Similar to JPM's situation this year and both would have a ride in the 500 if he stays. That would be pretty hard to turn down.

Where would Hinch go if he didn't re-up with SPM? Hinch had his breakout season with Andretti and Chevy in 2013, and that would seem a sensible landing spot. But The Mayor could also be in play for Ganassi.

There's plenty of fast drivers, but only a few are good at technical stuff. In a nearly spec category like IndyCar, it can make a big difference.

Rosenqvist is great and would probably do well in the series after he learns to adjust. I get the feeling that the multiple Ganassi tests is them lining him up to replace Kanaan? I hope that they make up their minds this year though, if silly season carries into the next Formula E season then it might be too late to sign him.

Then if you want Rosenqvist, it makes perfect sense that Kanaan - as the other non-paying driver - would have to go.

Besides, Chilton is only 11 points behind Kanaan in the championship standings at the moment.


I hope they sign him. Not because I want to see Kanaan go, but because I think Rosenqvist would be a great addition to the series.

This year, or next year?

For this year I'd guess Saavedra or Servia.
For next, that could be anyone, probably depending primarily on Andretti's choice of engines.
