Which point of the FIA 9 point plan do you consider the worst?
PLease read the thread regarding the FIA 9 point plan before voting. This coupled with the other poll is intended to be the results of a brainstorming session.

Definitely driver swapping. This is supposed to be a sport not a circus

Surely the success ballast is worse than any of the other points.

R has the right answer. Success ballast is the opposite of racing. It makes all of the other points moot. It makes the concept of racing moot. If you want to penalize success, a much cleaner way would be thus:
Reward Failure through a revised points grid. 1st place...3 pts 2nd place...3 pts 3rd.........3 pts 4th.........3 pts 5th.........3 pts 6th.........3 pts 7th.........3 pts 8th.........3 pts 9th.........3 pts 10th........3 pts 11th........3 pts 12th........3 pts 13..........3 pts the remaining places would be awarded 3 pts each. That's my Modest Proposal. |

Oh let's see, which of these brilliant proposals is truley heinous??????
I guess Tristan is right (that's a first) Swapping is so absurd. It has to be ballast. |

I voted for aerodynamic freeze.
It would be dangerous, because at every race some of the cars would be having an inappropriate aerodynamic setting. And it would make the season less interesting, because the team that would have the best overall setting at the start of the season, would keep its advantage for at least half of the season. |

PLease keep voting, guys. We have results that can be regarded as a great brainstoming session. This is not about what you think is stupid - it's about compiling a record of what is stupid.

It's just one of BE's wind ups!...but the driver swapping one made me think...What if!...A team could only run the same driver for say 6 races...(any six)...this would allow the test drivers to have a race as well.
Think about the massive interest created when Ant Davidson subbed for Yoong at Hungry...(and that was in a car only capable of running last) Burti or Badoer in Schumacher or Barrachello's car...great! Pizzonia in Ralf's... Wurz or Turner in DC's etc. This would help F3000 drivers like Pizzonia, Pantano etc to be a Grand Prix driver... and F3 drivers like Kerr, Paffett etc get a chance to do some F1 testing...earn some money...and learn F1 cars...then be in a situation after so many Kilometers of testing to race. Instead of seeing the same old boring F1 drivers 'hogging' it and earning all the money...it would also give them a break. Teams would be able to negotiate with drivers by the race, differant rates based on their experience. Racing gave Anthony a fresh approach to his testing role as testing is so differant in whats required by the engineers. As regards the technical issues...F1 should be the ultimate in car technology and doesn't need any more artificial restrictions or handicaps. |

I think the driver swapping is great, especially if he's not allowed to bring any of his crew with him. That will quickly show (1) if it's the driver or the car; and (2) the value of a man being able to move into a team and get along with everyone and work with them without Mommy and Daddy standing there with a gun to be sure Baby is treated "fairly" and Baby's teammate is not. Seriously, it would also show who knows how to set up a car and who just gets in and drives.
I voted for ballast because I remember when our grade school abolished accelerated classes for the very intelligent on the basis that "it's not fair to reward people just because they are smart". Everyone's grades went down and the school lost money because they were no longer getting good results on state assessments. So punishing success in F1 would mean that there would be no incentive to excel and the racing would get even more boring than it is now. |

I think all those so-called points are rubbish, with the exception of Testing restrictions. I dont have a problem with them limiting testing but everythink else..especially the driver swapping stuff is nonsense. Why would a BMW driver want to go drive a Minardi..or a Ferrari driver get behind the wheel of a lousy Jordan?
If I want to laugh..Ill go to the circus, thank you very much. Bernie and Max are as close to senile as ever. Someone should put them out of their misery before they demolish this sport. |

well...i think Max lives in cuckoo land most of the time as to what the fans really want to see , and Bernie just says silly things to get F1 more attention in the press. What a pair !

The whole shebang is a complete load of sweaty ********.
A smoke screen, if you will. Watch them shift in a load of new regs through the back door while they're all fighting over these. The solutions are bloody simple - 1. Smaller wings, tighter controls on diffuser 2. No grooves. 3. Steel disc brakes. 4. Changing of travel subsidies to top 6. 5. No testing, Friday free track day. |
