i think that the 1996 BTCC was the best,
sure, '98 had the best super touring car race ever, but thats about it!! 96' was the best! (shame about the audi's using 4wd!) |

I think 97' was the best, even though Menu virtually walked away with the championship. By the way I've watched the 97 review and have seen an Opel Vectra racing. Can any of yous tell me who that was as I never watched the BTCC at that time.

The car in question TC Legend, is that of Swedish airline pilot Jan Brunstedt. He took part in a few races that year in the Total Cup.

Personally, I'd say 92 was the best season in recent years (then again, maybe I'm just old...)- action from start to finish, a 3-way fight for the championship going right down to the wire, and then contoversy at the end. What more can you ask for? (and we even used to have overtaking back then...)

From the reviews I've watched, I'd have to say that the aerodynamic wings did calm things down a little bit. Do you think Alfa Romeo actually caused the BTCC to get more expensive after they caused a lot of arguments in '94 over aero dynamic benefits?

Top three years of the BTCC;
1st-1995, 2nd-1998, 3rd-1992 And Jan Brunstedt brought his 'Janco MSport' Opel Vectra to Silverstone for rounds three and four in 1997. |

Didn't I start a topic on this last month?
1990-93 were the best. |

Yeah, I think 96 was the best year too, we had 4-wheel, rear wheel, and front wheel drive cars!! good variety.

We all know Sparky's a Soper, and not a Cleland fan.

Cleland-he retired from the BTCC a couple of years ago and left as a winner with respect.
However, theres this washed-up has-been called Steve someone who wants another crack at trying to win a title for the first time which Cleland's won twice. No Chance. |

I thought that Cleland retired because he wasn't quick enough, and that he got taken out at Thruxton by an Independant runner (Lee Brookes?). |

You had to spoil it for me, Hobson! In any case, i think JC is still the best RACER the BTCC has ever seen-in '99 he still had more guile than the rest of the field put together!

...And Soper wasn't part of that field!
The rest of the field in '99? Er... It wasn't a particularly big field, was it!? Thanks Hobson! Good choice! |

Cleland was the best BTCC racer ever , no one came close. He is much better than the Muller / Aiello / Thompson / Menu lot...
OK?? |

Did anyone see Cleland 'driving' in British GT's last year? He spent half his time running into people in the Viper and generally causing a mess of Oulton Park.
And you guys call him 'a winner with respect'. Ha! |

You're right. He was good, but not great. |
